Playdates and Cousins.. (Week 264/126)

This week concluded Tyler's 2nd week as a Kindergartener.  He's made some new friends and is really enjoying his new school.  The boys seem to really play rough though, which causes me some concern, since I do not like that type of behavior.  There was actually a boy (Nevin) that played so rough that he had Tyler in a choke hold!  This led to Tyler crying and his mother being quite mortified.  Strangely enough, this incident seemed to start a new and more gentle friendship between Tyler and Nevin.  Fingers crossed that things stay nice and non-rough.

The lack of naps is catching up with Tyler.  Took him to Taekwondo and he knocked out on the way home.  He was so tired that he didn't even wake up when we got home and I brought him inside!  Poor kid is so backlogged with his naps...

Monday night we also had a wonderful dinner at Shik do rak with our good friends visiting from Taiwan.  I love that we always get together whenever they are in town and that the kids get along so well.  Katelyn is totally outnumbered with all the boys but she doesn't mind.

Joan asked the question "raise your hand if you love your mommy!" and both my kids' arms immediately went up.  Awww, how proud I feel.  :)

Tuesday.  Kids Imagine Nation performed at ICDC!  I dropped Tyler off at school and went back to ICDC to watch with Katelyn.  She LOVES them and was totally into it and dancing the whole time.  I love the way she dances, she has such cute silly moves.

Videos of Katelyn enjoying the KIN show:

Wednesday evening we headed to Boomers with 2 of Katelyn's school friends families.  Tyler was VERY excited, he loves Boomers - all the video games and go-karting!

Here are the 3 girls excited about the water.  It's the little things...

Katelyn really wanted to take a picture in front of the miniature golf castle. :)

Will and Tyler enjoyed the Go-Karting.

The kids had a lot of fun on the various little rides they had there.

Video of Tyler on the frog bounce ride:

Teacups!  I got pretty dizzy.  I must be getting old.

Me and Katelyn!

Video of the teacup fun!

Back inside Katelyn shot some pretty big guns.  She's doing it pretty well, isn't she?  The adults all enjoyed a couple pitches of beer.  I don't like beer at all but that was all they had!

End of the night picture of the gals!

After Kindergarten on Thursday, Tyler and some of his new friends had a playdate at the Woodbury Town Center.  One of the boys in his grade (Joshy) has an older brother.  These two play pretty rough and I see it spill over onto Tyler.  Not sure how I feel about that yet.

Thursday night we babysat the Saito boys while their parents went to Back to School Night (Elijah is in a K/1st grade combination class).  Peer pressure at it's best - Tyler actually ate some raw baby carrots.  AMAZING!

Video of dinner with the Saito kids:

I love that Tyler and Elijah play so well together.  No worries of anything going wrong.

Friday Night Football.  BOY it was hot.

Will's parents were in town and came to watch the game with us.

Afterward we all went to dinner at Da Luau with our friends the Saitos, Fongs and Prokopucks.  The kids had a great time!

Hawaiian shaved ice for dinner!  It got kind of chilly and Katelyn wore Tyler's jacket.  she fits it fine! :)

Saturday.  My older sister is in town with her kids!  We headed up in the morning and pretty much spent the whole day there.  The kids were very excited to play with their cousins and the Hex Bugs my brother bought them.

They also love my parents' back yard.  There are so many fruit trees!

So silly.  Leah and Katelyn dancing with their cherry tomatoes.

Katelyn's look of shock/surprise as Leah takes a bite.  I don't think she knew you could actually eat the tomato...

This week's blog will end on Saturday instead of Sunday.  Sunday was the start of our big family reunion Big Bear Lake trip - which has a TON OF PHOTOS.  I hope to get to that soon.  Sigh.  There's a lot!
