Starting out the week, a last minute dinner at 101 Noodle House here in Irvine with some friends. I think it was Monday? Afterward the kids played around across the street at YogurtLand and around the lake. They always have a great time and the adults get to hang out and chat too.
Here's Kaitlyn and Katelyn!
Wednesday was the 4th of July! Weird that it's in the middle of the week. It was quite overcast that day as well, and we headed down to Ladera Ranch for a fun day of festivities. It was nice just relaxing at home in the morning and not heading down there until after the kids napped. The kids, as usual, had a great time in the water (even though it was pretty chilly). I didn't even bother wearing a swimsuit this time since I knew I wasn't going in!
Here's Alexis, Kaitlyn and Katelyn. Alexis and Kaitlyn are both over a year older than KK, but my KK is totally able to hang with them. :) How cute are they all with their little white coverups?
We had a lot of tasty food at the pool and the Fongs were great hosts. Andy was right on the other side of the gate grilling delicious kabobs for dinner!
After the pool, we headed back to the Fongs (just a short walk away) and got the kids all showered and changed. They played together while the adults hung out (with some delicious coconut vodka) before it was time to leave to watch fireworks. Group pictures are still so tricky!
It was getting late, probably 8pm-ish, when we headed out to the fireworks. Ladera Ranch does their own each year, and they are really quite spectactular! Only issue was that it was a bit far of a walk so the kids were pretty tired. Good thing I borrowed a stroller from the Fongs. Katelyn got to ride in the front and Tyler stood in the back!
Change of passengers!
We finally made it to the park! It was a great neighborhood feeling (even though we didn't live there!) and even though there were a lot of people, it didn't feel overly crowded. Everyone got settled in and got ready to watch the fireworks.
Here we go!

Whew, what a tiring day. The rest of the week kind of felt off due to the break in the middle. Katelyn was completely completely refusing to use the potty now. If you asked her she would scream bloody murder. Totally our fault since we let her potty-usage slide while we were on vacation in Houston. Ugh, the battles! Friday was Tyler's friend Brock's birthday. He's a good friend of Tyler's and also one of Katelyn's favorite people too! :)
Will worked from home and we got to have a nice afternoon date - Spiderman!
Afterward we picked up the kids and Tyler had soccer. He loves soccer! Oh, I am remembering now - he was really upset about the way his shin guards and soccer socks felt on his feet. To the point where he was all out bawling and complaining and Will and I were about to explode. UGH just thinking about it makes my blood boil again! He is so darn particular about how his clothes feels, sheesh! UGH! He finally quit complaining and enjoyed himself. Afterward we met up with a bunch of soccer friends for dinner in Woodbury.
Saturday morning - Katelyn's swim class! Super cute, super low key. No way I was going into the water since we had to rush to another birthday party right after. Katelyn LOVES the water and wouldn't even get out when the class ended - I had to kindly ask a lifeguard to get her out! She listened immediately to him!
We're taking the class with some of Katelyn's school friends, Kayla and Harmony.

After swim, we headed over to Brock's birthday party. Very low key and relaxing. Almost felt like a play date. It was a bike party and Katelyn got to decorate her scooter with her name with pretty stickers and streamers. Super cute!
She loved that helmet and wouldn't even take it off for the longest time...
Fun party!
Oh boy, we were packing too many things in one day. We didn't leave the party until close to 3pm which meant the kids fell asleep quick, they were so tired. We put them in their rooms to nap when we got home and they knocked out fast. Bad thing was that we needed to leave by 430pm to get to Artesia for my grandmother's 95th birthday! Ack! We woke the kids up at 4pm and they completely freaked out. COMPLETELY. They don't do well at all when they are woken from naps. Very disagreeable, which in turn makes me very disaggreeable and quite Hulk-like. I am only slightly exaggerating. We didn't even leave the house until 5pm and Artesia is a good half hour away. I was mortified that all my family and my 95 year old grandmother were all waiting for us to take professional family photos! Ugh!
Here's the group photo with the entire family and one with just my dad's family with my grandmother.
Dinner time! My grandmother has 4 grandchildren that were all born in Katelyn's tiger year. Katelyn and Leah are the oldest. Here's Katelyn an her cousin Miles. I think he turned 2 in June.
Katelyn's favorite cousin Anne visiting from Texas!
Good to see Kareen!
This picture cracked me up because of the dirty look Katelyn is giving Leah. Haha!
Katelyn with my cousin Stephanie!
I got a nice big hug from Miles at the end of the night. I think this might have even been my first time holding him. They live in the Bay Area so I don't see him much, but he gave me a hug like he knew me! It was such a nice sweet hug!
Whew, what an exhausting and packed Saturday. We will not be doing that again. 3 activities in 1 day? Too much! Sunday Will was very happy to know that I had left our morning free, just hanging out and relaxing at home. After naps though, we headed over to our friends the Owyangs for a pool playdate. Back in the pool the kids went!
Video of Tyler and Katelyn going underwater with Daddy. Katelyn is so cute with her bubble mouth and holding her breath:
After pool time it was dinner time!
And then bike time! The Owyangs have a son Luke who is in Tyler's Pre-4 class. They all know Katelyn because she always goes to their room to play with them. They all call her KK and I'm just realizing now that some of them might not even know what her real name is! Anyway, they love to give her rides on the back of their bikes at school, and Sunday was no exception!
Video of Katelyn hitching a ride on a trike:
Katelyn had a lot of fun riding their trike too.
With the moms!
The best moment of the night? Tyler riding Luke's bike without training wheels! It was so exciting and he totally did it! Here's a video of Tyler riding a bike without training wheels:

Then we had ice pops for dessert...
How cute are these two?
And then, to end the night, sparklers!
Whew, what a busy weekend. Next week's post - Tyler's 5th Birthday and birthday party!!
