Lagoon Playdate and Birthday Parties!.. (Week 258/120)

Summer is upon us!  The days are getting hotter and the weekends are getting busier (if that's even possible!).

Starting out, Tyler is LOVING being in Black Belt Club at Taekwondo.  After last week's graduation/testing, this week was full of his new favorite pasttime - sparring and learning to use his weapons!  Sparring was hilarious since I have him in a class with older kids so many of them are much larger than him.  He's not afraid though!  Plus he learned to use his nunchucks this week, which made him really happy.

Here's a video of Tyler at sparring (nice punch to the head Tyler, but that's not allowed!):

And another video of Tyler at sparring a Giant kid. I love what a good sport the big kid is, he seems to be trying to crouch lower the whole time so Tyler can get in some good jabs!:

There was a case of head lice at ICDC this week that had spread to a handful of girls.  YIKES!  We've never had to worry about this (knock on wood) and I wasn't too worried about Tyler with his short hair.  I was more concerned about Katelyn though, since the infected girls were in Tyler's class (Pre-4) and Katelyn spends all her free-play time in that class with Tyler and his friends!  After hearing that the lice had spread from the initial girl that morning, I went back and picked up the kids.  No reason to risk exposure when they can come with us.  The kids were all checked (one of the teachers is a professional lice lady!) and were all clean.  It so happened that Will and I had lunch plans with his college friends who were visiting, so the kids got to join us at Fukada!  YUM!

I had to leave early for a hair appointment, which, unfortunately, the stylist never showed!  I was very annoyed since I waited almost an hour and the guy never even texted me back!  Later I find out that he had some bad staph infection or something from a shaving cut.  Still, a text would have been nice!  Friday afternoon Tyler got to play some soccer again.  We had missed it the weekend before because of his graduation, so he was really looking forward to it.  I love watching him go for the ball, he's totally into it and not afraid to really go after the ball.

The boys had so much fun!  Here he is with his buddy Elijah.

After soccer ended, we hurried back home.  It was our good friend Stacy's birthday and we were going out with Jen/Stacy to celebrate!  Vanessa watched our kids as well as the Garners' two kids at our home.  Will and I changed and headed to the Irvine Spectrum to watch the 8pm showing at the Irvine Improv of Mike something.  He's the big guy on that show- Mike & Molly.  He was actually quite funny!!

We even took a picture with him even though we were too cheap to buy his DVD.  :)

Saturday!  Lagoon playdate.  Tyler was really looking forward to this!  Love the lagoon here in Irvine, and love that we have friends that live in Woodbridge that have access to it.  The kids had a great time in the water with Will and their friends.

Me and Jen!

Katelyn was very excited to eat Doritos.  She wiped her fingers all over her robe though...

Love this picture of Will and Katelyn.

Katelyn and Madison!

I was recording Katelyn and Madison playing in the water.  Madison was pretending to jump into the water but would catch herself right before.  Katelyn thought it was fun and was doing the same thing... until she actually dunked herself under water.  It was quite a surprise for both Will and I!  She was fine though, definitely surprised at going under water, but I think she'll learn not to do that any time soon!  Glad I caught it on a video though:

Some of the dads!  (Minus Will, who was watching the kids in the water!)

The moms!

And of course, the required group shot! :)

We tried to take a photo of all the moms but the kids decided to photo bomb.

Some family shots!

Nick (Agnes's husband) is my drinking partner at these gatherings.  Our other member (Amy's husband Andy) wasn't there.  He made me feel better when I accidentally knocked over a whole container of Mojito.  In my defense though, it was a tupperware-like container that wasn't closed properly!  I still felt really bad though.

Stacy with his birthday cupcake!

Our friends the Garners.

Even after the sun was going down, the kids still had a great time playing.

Getting ready for S'mores!

A wonderful and fun day at the lagoon.  Love that we have our group of friends that we can enjoy it!

Sunday, after naps, we headed to Newport Beach to celebrate the 1st birthday of a friend's daughter.  Tyler was VERY excited to see Auntie Trina.  He hasn't seen her in a while.  I didn't even tell him until we got there.

With the girls and my kids.  It's been a while!

Here's a picture with Mariam holding the birthday girl.

Love this house, it's straight out of a magazine!  Really cute party, complete with cotton candy machine. :)

Afterward we stopped for a carwash.  I think this was the first time the kids were with us at a carwash where you actually get out of the car.  They were very engrossed in watching our car go through the process.

Then we headed to Aliso Viejo for another birthday party. This was for Tyler's friend Kaelyn who has since changed schools.  There weren't really any ICDC families there so I didn't really know any of the parents.  The kids had a good time though.

That's Kaelyn sitting next to Tyler.

Ready and waiting in line to start jumping!  It was cute seeing Tyler be protective of Katelyn.

Ball shooting pit.  Very dangerous without goggles, which I found out the hard way when I got hit square in my eye socket!

Tyler was VERY intent on gathering balls for ammunition.

Halfway through, it turned into Cosmic Pump it Up!  They make it really dark and all the kids are wearing glow-in-the-dark bracelets.  It was our first time at something like this.  The kids thought it was fun!  Which it was, but it's also why I didn't see that ball come flying into my eye!

Group picture at the end!

Whew, done!
