More catchup! Tyler has become quite obsessed with Legos at school. He is always busy creating some sort of rocket ship whenever I pick him up. Here he is showing off his creations with his friends Dylan and Zane.
More bath photos!
Katelyn had her first optometrist appointment this week. Yes, she is very little, but she's covered under my insurance for a little while longer, so why not! She wasn't exactly too cooperative but I think they were able to confirm nothing was wrong. Will and I got our eyes examined as well (we were so busy last year and skipped our appointments!) and used the frame allowances on some new sunglasses.
Our friend John visited from Texas as well this week! John and I started working at Boeing the same week WAY back in 2004. He sat down only a few cubicles down from me and we used to walk to the cafeteria all the time for breakfast. It was really good seeing him again! Will and I took him to Sushilicious for dinner.
This weekend was also my brother Lindon and his wife Michelle's baby shower! They are due early September and I am VERY excited. Finally - a cousin for the kids that will be local! We put K in a super girly pink bubblegum dress. Seriously, can I help it if she is just so cute in pink?
Tyler had fun playing with our friend Valerie. She is SO good with kids!
I think this was the first time that Katelyn even met Valerie and here she is just hanging out on her lap!
K was really sweet to my dad that day too. I remember when his loud voice used to scare her, but now she's taken quite a liking to him. I think maybe it's because he kept offering her yummy fruit to eat. :)
Lindon and Michelle have this massively huge Australian cattle herding dog named Chowder. This dog is REALLY big. Katelyn and Tyler were quite nervous around it. Here's Katelyn hiding behind Will as she scopes Chowder out.
Definitely some concern in her face...
Tyler was in a good mood the whole time since he got to play with our friend Warren's iPhone games. He is such an iPhone/iPad freak! Totally my fault.
Katelyn and Valerie!
Ahhhhh, more fruit please.
Tyler was pretty engrossed in Warren's iPhone. Not like he doesn't have Angry Birds to play at home.
These next few photos were pretty hilarious. They took photos on Warren's phone and then used an app to decorate them. Tyler had most of the input. This one really made me laugh.
And this one of Will is actually not as bad - for a while he had pigtails!
And this one made my heart melt because Tyler wanted to put lots of hearts on the picture of Katelyn. I keep wishing I could just move the bubble off her face though. Tyler informed me that Katelyn was talking (hence the bubble).
Katelyn and my dad.
This smile, while not so attractive for Katelyn, totally reminded me of Tyler when he was younger.
This was really random - Warren got the kids interested in playing a game where they drop and try to spin little metal washers!
Taking a walk around the backyard with grandpa.
Drawing time! Warren is an amazing artist and Tyler was really excited to draw with him. They would collaborate and decide what to draw - I think the result was a dog with a really long tongue, and a flying pirate ship of some sort. Tyler was really into drawing for a few days after this!
By the end of the shower, Katelyn had almost gotten over her fear of Chowder and was even brave enough to pet him!
Here's Katelyn with Michelle and Lindon. Not sure where Tyler was or why K has such a weird look on her face!
Sunday we hung out with Will's parents in Irvine.
Totally Justin Bieber hair. We're trying to hard to grow it out so I can put it in a pony tail, or at least give her a little puff! Hah!
I usually get coffee before an afternoon of activities for Tyler. For some reason, I had him with me this time. Tyler was excited to play the iPad while I ordered coffee though.
Video of Tyler practicing his taekwondo form:
Graduation day! Things were going quite well leading up to it too...until Tyler had to put on his white jacket. From previous pictures, you can see that Tyler (and most of the other students) have been wearing a blue taekwondo shirt for practice instead of their formal jacket. This is because it's just so darn hot! Tyler is quite particular about the way his clothes feels and he was not too happy about wearing a bulky jacket again after being so comfortable for so long in his t-shirt. Plus the belt and jumping jacks didn't help the situation.
We had a little bit of a meltdown due to his uncomfortable-ness, but luckily I was able to talk him through it and he did a great job! That's the thing with Tyler though - if he can get into the zone he is AWESOME... but if something is bothering him, he can be really pissed off and bratty. Argh.
You can tell he's quite pissed here - he puts his finger in his mouth for some reason to deal with his emotions.
Video of Tyler at his belt test. I think he did a great job!:
Man, there were a ton of kids graduating from Orange Belt to Orange Tiger Badge (it's a half step since they're so young and didn't memorize their form to get to Yellow belt).
Me and my little Tiger!
Thursday was Hip Hop class. I don't have any photos but I do have some cute videos of Tyler doing his dance routine:
Video of Katelyn playing freeze dance at Tyler's hip hop class. She totally got it and it was so cute to watch:
Video of Katelyn and Tyler dancing! They love to dance and I know they definitely didn't get that gene from me:
Over the weekend we went to Wild Rivers again. We're trying to maximize our visits since we have season passes and this is their last Summer that they'll be open! Unfortunately Tyler got some sunblock in his eye and he was quite unhappy the entire time - we ended up leaving after not too long. We did have some fun on the Lazy River though.
Video of us on the lazy river at Wild Rivers. We'll have to go back soon.
Video of Katelyn playing in the water by herself:
I'm so late with these posts. Bad Kathy!
