Happy Anniversary!! (Week 175/37)

What a tiring week it's been.  It's never fun around here when the kids are sick!  It all started last Thursday.  I got a call from the kid's school asking how Katelyn had been doing the night before.  Totally fine, I said.  Nothing out of the ordinary.  They said she was acting listless and just lying around - not curious and smiling/playing like her usual self.  Weird.  Irene (the lead) said she'd keep me updated.  10 minutes later, another call.  Katelyn had eaten some baby food that morning (refused her bottles) and THROWN up!  Oh man!  I headed right over (for some reason I had decided to work from home that day...must be a mother's intuition!) and brought her home.  Poor Katelyn - super listless, she would burrow her head in my neck and just look around tiredly.  No crying, just looking so uncomfortable.  As soon as we got home, I was putting stuff away while holding her, and she threw up all over me.  Lovely.  It was a lot and we were both covered/smelly/dripping.  Sigh. No fever though.  Later that day (early afternoon) I got puked on again.  Ahhh!  Poor Katelyn - seriously super sad to hold your little baby and see how bad she feels.  She was such a trooper, she barely cried!  Here's an example of how tired she was - she's awake in this picture, but just too tired to move or hold her head up.  She fell asleep for a while, comforted by Will lying next to her with his hand on her back.  Sniff!

We took her to the doctor that afternoon to make sure everything was OK, and were told that she had a stomach bug and to be on the lookout for diarrhea next.  GREAT!  Poor Katelyn.  We gave her pedialyte (which she liked) and let her nap as much as she could.  She definitely wasn't in any mood to eat that's for sure.  Poor baby!

By Friday, she seemed much better.  No more puking, but yes, the dreaded diarrhea appeared.  No big deal though.  We picked up Tyler from school and then headed to dinner with friends at Islands.  Katelyn was so good, she hung out in her hair chair eating puffs.

After dinner, we hung out for a bit chatting outside.  The kids had their crayons from dinner and were vandalizing public property - graffiti artists!  I'm not sure who started it (not Tyler!) but they had fun!

Saturday was Will and my 6th wedding anniversary.  6 years! Together 12!  We hadn't planned on really doing anything to celebrate - I think our kids are too young for us to really go anywhere overnight, and I'm barely even comfortable having a meal without them in the evening.  Yes, we are over protective!  So we figured we'd take the kids with us to one of our favorite restaurants - Five Crowns in Corona del Mar - my favorite OC prime rib joint!

We figured we could take some pictures before we headed out (5pm seating - we eat with the seniors!).  Tyler was our little model for some test shots.

Here's one of me and Katelyn.  Love the dress but wish I had a blue bow of some sort.  The only one that matched was this little white one that I wasn't really feeling.

I like this picture of me better but Katelyn isn't smiling.  I need to learn how to photoshop!  Imagine the possibilities!

Our attempt at a family picture.  We have so few.  Which reminds me, we better get serious about our holiday photos!  We definitely need someone on the other side of the lens to get Katelyn to smile!

Wardrobe change for Katelyn.  This photo was at the restaurant that Tyler took.  Tyler vision!

What a lovely smile Tyler has for us in this picture.  ...  And Katelyn's bow is falling into her eye - she must think its funny...

Look at those rosy cheeks!

Tyler was excited to be at the restaurant.  He probably doesn't remember coming here when he was a baby!  And I love that he's wearing slacks and a collared shirt!

Group picture before we started ordering.  I LOVE the prime rib at this place - my absolute favorite because they are very consistent.  We are part of their VIP program and had accumulated points for $50 and a free appetizer.  Sweet! :)  That helped dampen the blow of the bill.  Oooh it was SO good though.

Our waitress brought Tyler some water in a little tea kettle so he could have his own little 'tea party'.  It was super cute and kept Tyler occupied.  Look how careful he is pouring the water!

Katelyn was wonderfully amazing.  She hung out in her high chair and ate Kix and little pieces of sourdough bread.  She was so great!  The staff would come by to see her and tell us how cute they were.  Hmm...  I remember them doing the same thing when we brought Tyler as a baby.  Now I wonder if it's a standard thing they do to all families with children....but I will agree that I think my kids are cute! :)

Mmmm, yum, very full from a full and yummy dinner.  We were done eating by 6:30pm - I'm telling you, we eat at the same time as the senior citizens!  Happy Anniversary honey!

And a few more photos from my iPhone.  Here's  munching on her puffs.  Love her little bow.

With Will.

With me!

look at those cheeks!

Super duper cheeks in this one!

Sunday the kids got a long awaited visit from Auntie Trina!  Trina came when Tyler was still napping.  Katelyn got some one-on-one time!

Of course, once Tyler woke up it was all about Auntie Trina!  It was hard to find a picture of them two where Tyler wasn't crazily laughing.  He loves his Auntie Trina!

They even got to read a book together (I don't really recommend this book though - the grouchy ladybug is quite belligerent!)

It's been too long Trina!

Icing on the cake for Tyler - not only does he get to see his favorite person, but he gets to have YogurtLand also!

Trina tried out my ergobaby carrier.  Katelyn didn't seem to mind at all!  Tyler was actually pretty upset when Trina had to leave, so we eased him into it by having him put on his Buzz Lightyear costume for her.  Whew.

This weekend we also checked out the common facilities at Woodbury East (where Wills parents have a house).  Tyler liked putting his foot in the water at the pool.  Apparently the pools are saltwater!

Here's a video of Katelyn enjoying her 2nd time on a swing.  So different from Tyler - he never liked swings!:

Katelyn also sat in a shopping cart for the first time this weekend.  Check her out with her favorite toy at the moment - yes, it's a neosporin box!  who knows...

We've also started giving Katelyn some water in a sippy cup (although I think she might be drinking Pedialyte below due to her stomach bug last week).  She totally knows what she's doing and will hold the sippy cup all by herself!

Here's Katelyn with our nanny Cheyenne.  I LOVE my nanny, she is wonderful and has so much experience with kids and is SO great with Katelyn.

Katelyn liked sitting on the countertop and eating some food.  She is so cute!

Last night I made some wagon wheel pasta for Katelyn while the rest of us had spaghetti.  What a hit!  She ate so many of them - it's nice to give her an alternative to the Kix and puffs!

yummy yummy.  only problem with the wagon wheels was that Tyler wanted to eat them too so we had to ration between them.

She even tried some of our spaghetti.  Is there something on my face?

hehe, so silly.  The spaghetti was definitely harder to hold and most of it ended up on the chair...

Excited that my sister is visiting us for the holidays!  The post next week will include (hopefully) a Legoland and Disneyland trip. Yay!
