Grandparents visit and Trying on Halloween Costumes! (Week 164/26)

Another week flying by.  Katelyn is going to be 6 months on Friday - can you believe it?  Another 6 months and she'll be drinking cow's milk!  Which means I won't be attached to my pump whenever I'm not home (which is rare enough as it is!).  I already miss her being a little baby - she's much more vocal now and rolling around and stuff.  Aahh!

I recently discovered a really yummy shaved ice place here in Irvine.  Super close to us, called Mochilato.  We've been there before for their mochi with gelato in the middle, but never for their shaved ice.  It was so yummy!  ... their ice is green tea flavored (which sounds weird but is GREAT!) and lots of fruit on top and gelato in the middle!  YUM.  Only problem? $9.95.  Seriously?  Oh well.  It'll have to be a special treat from time to time.  Tyler was just happy that they also had frozen yogurt.

YUMMMMY huh Tyler!  He only likes the really tart flavors - like Will.

We even browsed a local bike shop.  I was certain that Tyler was too small to ride a real bike, but he did it without any problems (with training wheels of course).  Maybe it's time for a real bike after all...

This week our friend Heidi came by to visit.  Yay!  We don't get visitors that often, we're so boring. :)  Heidi is one of my good friends from college and it was so great seeing her and having her meet Katelyn!

Heidi just got married last month - and it was the first and only time Will and I have not both been home to put the kids down for bed.  I was really worried about being away - normal paranoia? - but I'm so glad we did make it out.  All parents need some time away!

Katelyn has been really interested in food.  She's been watching us eat for a while now and tries to put everything into her mouth to taste.  She's great at eating carrots and prunes, but she doesn't really like the peas.  Next we'll try sweet potatoes.  She's still too little for her high chair though.

Her newest favorite thing - baby puffs!  She's still working on the finger coordination, and actually getting the puff into her mouth.  Baby steps.  Usually we have to put a puff in her fingers and guide her hands into her mouth.  When she misses her mouth, she gets upset!

Katelyn eating puffs video - she's very impatient when it comes to her puffs!

This weekend my dad and grandmother dropped by for a bit to see the kids.  My parents have been really busy, I don't think they've visited since Tyler's 3rd birthday in early July.

Here's my grandmother and Katelyn!  I think she might have thought Katelyn was Leah for a little bit, easy mistake I guess!

My grandmother with both Tyler and Katelyn.  I've accepted that Katelyn will need to wear a lot of pink these days until her hair grows in - it's just too hard to tell she's a girl!  Doesn't help that she looks just like Tyler did when he was a baby.

Tyler was very silly and friendly with my dad.  He was saying "good to meet you!", when he meant "good to see you".  Hah!  Here he is with my dad.

Later that day, Will's parents came by to visit also.

Doesn't Katelyn look so much girlier with a bow in her hair?  Super cute!

This week also marked my return to the office.  Ahhh!  Difficult - it's been so long since I've actually had to work in the office..since, what, January?  There was a lot of preparation for milk pumping, ice coolers, etc.  Stress!  Even worse, I'm auditing 2 classes at Cal State Long Beach after work in preparation for my Comprehensive Exams in February to finally finish my darn Masters degree.  Which sucks because its a LONG time to be away from the kids.  Sniff sniff.  Will's parents came by yesterday (Tuesday) to help ease him into things.

Some random pictures from the week:

Katelyn LOVES everything about Tyler.  She loves riding him like a horsey too!

Some photos I took of Katelyn when she was just rolling around in her play area.  I'm waiting for her to show some interest in crawling before we put up the baby gates.  No luck yet.

Hi Katelyn!  She likes chewing everything!

Her favorite chew toy of the moment - plastic mirrors!  They are completely drenched and slobbery afterward.  Lovely huh!

What's on TV today Katelyn?  (which is ironic, seeing that we rarely ever watch tv anymore... it's always Toy Story lately!  Tyler loves to yell: "To infinity and BEYOND!!!!"

She likes to just chill on her tummy and roll around the area.  At least she's a little more mobile now - love it!

Hi!

Grow some more hair please!

Happy Katelyn! I really think we're so lucky to that Katelyn is such a happy baby - she's just so cheerful and smiley!  My nanny has it pretty good.  Ooh, and before I forget - Katelyn had pretty good naps on Tuesday during her first full-ish day at school (10-5pm).  Yay, that definitely makes me less stressed!

Katelyn is also talking up a storm too.  Here's a video where she is saying Ba-Ba:

And in preparation for Halloween, some costumes!  This first one was my favorite, but doesn't work so well since she can't walk yet.  She's a cupcake - the white part is the icing, pink is the cake, and strawberry topping on top!  There's a part underneath that's brown to show the cupcake holder, but she's got such chubby thighs that they won't stay down.  Hah!

Cupcake Katelyn!

Decision: try another costume better fitted for her body type. Haha!

Next up - a flower!  Super hot just putting her in it.  So cute too huh!

She liked it too.  Except the hood was a little large.  hmm.  We'll keep trying...

I got this video of Tyler when I went to pick him from school the other day.  It's nice to still see how excited he is about bubbles even though he's 3 now!

Have a good week everyone!
