Hanging out at home... (Week 163/25)

Not too much to report this week!  Tyler has been getting better at not being afraid of the dark anymore -which is GREAT!  Katelyn has been sleeping longer stretches, but she's still waking 1-2 times a night to nurse.  We've had a couple nights where she did an 8 hour stretch, nursed, and went back to sleep.  It's not the 10-12 hr stretches she used to do when she was younger, but I'll take it!

This weekend we headed to Roger's Gardens in Newport.  I was thinking we would buy some pretty flowers for our yard, but decided not to after we got there.  We're just not very good at keeping plants alive.  My new thing? - fake plants!  Yes!

It was quite sunny that day, but it was nice to get out of the house for a little bit.  It's hard to venture out though, I like Katelyn to be able to nap nice and quietly - but I know that it's not always an option.

Sunday we decided to check out Boomers in Irvine.  We've never been before and its literally down the street from our old condo!  I was excited to take Tyler to ride the Go-Karts.  I knew there was a height restriction for passengers of 40", but I figured we could squeeze Tyler on (he's 38 inches).  No luck!  Awww.  He was really excited too!

Instead, we ended up riding the different rides.  This was the "Rockin Tug" ride - really similar to the boat ride I took him on at Camp Snoopy.  Hmm, height restriction on this one was 42" I think, but the girl let Tyler on!  Not such a great idea, because they had to stop it mid-ride because Tyler was NOT happy and quite scared.  It should have been a sign to me that he wasn't ready yet when he could barely climb the step onto the boat! Hah!

Tyler was more interested in the little train ride.  Maybe he won't be into rollercoasters when he gets older...

And of course, a mini carousel.
We'll be back though - we have a lot of points to use - but we'll need Tyler to grow 2 more inches first!

Tyler has been having a lot of fun at school - I always love picking him up from school and seeing what he's up to and who he's playing with.  He's been a better listener lately also...mostly...

We've started Katelyn on some baby food peas - she's not really a fan yet.  But it's exciting nonetheless.  Next we'll move to carrots and then sweet potatoes.  I remember Tyler loving sweet potatoes.  Can you believe she will already be 6 months next week?

Here's Katelyn chilling in her new (and soon to be returned) high chair.  I really liked the way this high chair looked, but for its price it just wasn't worth it!  The sides are plastic-y and some parts don't even seem to line up right!  Ugh.

Here are a couple more of Tyler and Katelyn.  I let her feed herself a puff the other day and she didn't like the taste either.  Looks like so far she just really likes prunes!

Tyler and Katelyn!

Ooh, new this week - Toy Story!  Tyler has all of a sudden become interested in watching the DVD.  We had tried before (he got a copy for his birthday) and he lost interest after 10 minutes.  Now he's all about it, wants to watch it all the time.  This was a cute moment - he and I cuddled up with a blanket on the couch to watch for a little bit!

Here's Katelyn hanging out on her swing.  She'll look at the reflective mirror on top and just giggle and laugh at herself.  She is SO smiley!  Seriously!  She is always smiling, and giggling.  Sometimes it seems like she can't help but smile!

I saw this picture and I was amazed at how much Katelyn looked like Tyler in this picture.

Oh! And another first!  I was actually not home to put the kids down for bed.  I wasn't home once last month (for a wedding) but aside from that, I can't even remember the last time I actually was not at home.  I worried quite a bit, unnecessarily of course, because Will was fine.  Here's Mariam with Katelyn!

We hung out at a friend's house that night - it was really good to get some adult time!

Tyler got these flashy swords during our visit to Knott's Berry Farm last month.  Here's a video of Tyler Sword Fighting.  You have to watch it if you get a chance - he's like saying "FIGHT!" and doing these sword fighting stances.  Hah!

And a video to end with.  If you like to see squealing laughing babies, you have to watch it!  There's like 10 seconds near the beginning where the video is blurry (I hadn't figured out yet how to focus on Will's DSLR) but the rest Katelyn is laughing up a storm (especially hard at 1:15)!  She LOVES it when Tyler plays with her, loves loves loves it.  He's playing with her with one of his pull-ups.  Yes - that's love!

That's it for this week's post.  Short huh!

katelyn is too cute!

BTW...you should manual focus when recording video on the SLR. it is much faster doing it that way.
