Happy Birthday to Tyler! This past week has been kind of hectic and exciting - our little boy Tyler turned THREE! Here's hoping that this new year will have Tyler being a better listener and less tantrum prone! haha! We can only hope!
I stopped by Tyler's school right before their last snack of the day on his birthday last Friday. It's really cute, they'll do the regular snack and then announce the "special" snack afterward in honor of the birthday boy! I brought Gogurts for the kids - nice and easy to eat! Since Tyler's birthday is so late in the school year, most of his friends have already transitioned into the next class - Tyler and the remaining kids are moving August 1st. So right now the majority of the class are younger kids that have just started in Pre-1! Tyler gets to be the big fish for a month I guess. :) Last year, when Tyler turned 2, he was still in the toddler room and they had popsicles for his birthday - they even had his hair in a little ponytail. :)

Back at home that day, we had to have Yogurtland of course! It's his favorite, so he even got to have it before dinner. :) I can't believe he's so much bigger now - he is so much smarter, so much funnier, so much stubborner! Here's a link to his picture last year on his birthday with his YogurtLand! What a difference!!
Tyler loves blowing out his candles. We try to make a habit of always having some YogurtLand stashed in the freezer for emergency purposes. Will will usually leave some of his own to keep in there so that he can share with Tyler later. I've been having the pecan praline flavor (my favorite!) and since Tyler isn't a fan I can't share. Too bad for Tyler!
Saturday morning. Birthday party day! Will and I had been thinking for quite a few months of where we wanted to do Tyler's party. A lot of things to think about though - but the big issues were 1) the heat in the summer if we did something outside and 2) the setup/cleanup difficulties when we have baby Katelyn with us! What to do what to do...we finally decided to just do the party at the same place we did for Tyler's 2nd birthday- Pump it Up! What could be better? - Tyler LOVES to bounce, its indoors + air conditioned, and they do all the setup and cleanup! Only downsides is that its a bit costly since you have to order food from them and they're quite overpriced.
Here's Tyler watching the safety video while putting on socks. He LOVES to bounce!
Here's the main slide. That thing was steep! The kids loved it though and some of us parents were brave enough to go on it too! It was amazingly easy to climb also - I've been to place where the inflatables are not in great shape and they're quite hard to climb. I didn't get to do a lot of bouncing last year because I was newly pregnant! Nothing was going to get in my way this time!
This was the slide from the obstacle course. Tyler sure looks freaked out! I think he was having flashbacks of the last time he was on an inflatable slide and did a faceplant! heehee..
Here are some photos of Tyler bouncing around with his friends. He likes playing with his girlfriends. :)
Tyler was SO happy once Trina arrived - she became his slide buddy!
After that first slide, Tyler must have remembered and from then on he started going down the slide on his tummy feet first. I guess it feels much safer? heehee.
Here's a short video showing how Tyler goes down. At least he didn't decide to completely not go down anymore!
At the bottom!
It was fun going down the slide with Tyler - I think I was more nervous than him. You don't realize until you get on top how steep that slide is - and it goes FAST!
Tyler and auntie Trina! (He loved wearing his Lightning McQueen "Birthday Champ" ribbon!)
This was one of the other inflatables - basketball hoops! Tyler had a lot of fun in there, and even had a helping hand from a friend's dad in dunking. A couple times, however, he threw the ball out of the entire thing! haha!
Tyler and his buddy Zane. They've been hanging out a lot more at school. It was actually Zane's birthday that day!
Will even got in on the fun and played some basketball with Tyler!
Here's Tyler and our friend Yao who was in town. Thanks for stopping by Yao!
Maybe not the brightest idea, but my girls and I decided to go down the slide together. We did it last year without any issues! Not so this year. Maybe if we hadn't linked arms? I dunno. I just know that when we got to the bottom, I heard a loud pop on my left side under my arm pit. Hmm. Not good. It's been 4 days and it still hurts - even when I inhale deeply or want to blow my nose. I've definitely done some sort of damage but probably the type of damage that I can't do anything about. Ahh! I'm getting old! You can see my pained expression in the picture!
Even with the pain, I can still smile for a KMT photo. Hah!
The group picture was quite difficult, as to be expected! The kids were all hungry and just all over the place. Tyler was so excited though - he kept dancing while we took photos!
Another attempted shot...
After that we headed into the eating room for lunch. Lightning McQueen balloons and paper goods - Tyler was VERY happy. :) Here are a couple shots of the room - the Cars goodie bags were a big hit with the kids (thanks eBay!). We ordered too much pizza (better to have more than not enough...as we learned last year!) and also had ordered chicken nuggets (it was just the Mickey mouse ears ones!) and potato wedges. The rest of the stuff we were able to bring ourselves (sweets, veggies and fruits). I was a little annoyed that the canned sodas weren't cold - ugh! - they had assured me that their refrigerator was cold enough to get them chilled! Oh well.
After lunch, it was time for cake! Tyler climbed onto the throne very excitedly.
Here he is listening to everyone sing happy birthday! He gets kind of embarrassed/shy I think? He'll start to act silly and make weird faces when he knows all eyes are on him!
Blowing out the candle!
Here's a video of Tyler blowing out his birthday candle! Haha, he was so quick to blow it out as soon as the lady brought it out - Will ended up lighting one candle again real quick so we could get some photos! Haha, I was taking a video with my camera, AND a video with my iphone!
Whew, what a birthday party! Here's Tyler and me on the throne.
Then all the kids wanted to sit on the throne together!
Here's Tyler again - you can see more clearly the goody bags - we had a Cars comic book in there, Cars markers, Cars stickers sheets, Cars memo pad, Cars stamp, Cars ring, and (since they're Tyler's favorite) a bag of gummies!
We were all pretty pooped after the party, and we had to load everything back into the car too! We had a ton of leftover food, thank goodness my brother was there to help load all the presents into his car to bring back to our place! Here's Tyler with Trina and Mariam. It was quite windy and Tyler was worried about getting blown away - he kept saying "I don't want to fly away...." - there were a lot of balloons!
That afternoon my parents dropped by to wish Tyler a happy birthday as well. While Will napped, we took Tyler out for (what else?) Yogurtland! Then we stopped next door at the Korean supermarket while my mom went to pick up some quick stuff for us to have for dinner. She wasn't gone for long - but long enough for my dad, me AND Tyler to all pass out and fall asleep in the car. (Tyler was too wound up after the party to nap, so its a good thing we were able to get one out of him!). Here's Tyler with my parents having birthday yogurt!
And playing with his balloons at home.
Some miscellaneous photos from the week:
Tyler has a yogurt mustache! He LOVES to drink all melted yogurt when he finishes his YogurtLand.
Hi Katelyn! Last week was tough with Katelyn's teeth coming out, so I bought a bunch of random things on Amazon. Anything to help her feel better! We've had some really tough nights lately with her sleep and I think we're all getting quite sleep deprived. Like really. I could kick myself for taking for granted how well she used to sleep! There was even a day last week where I actually felt nauseous the next day from exhaustion. Those darn teeth and flipping over all the time! I've busted out my baby sleep books to try to find a remedy to this situation. Hopefully we're getting past the "4 month sleep regression" and her new teeth (now that they're out) will stop bothering her. We tried swaddling one night and it gave good results but the next night was horrendous. Now we're trying to really get her down while she's awake so she learns to put herself to sleep. One night of success so far, let's keep our fingers crossed!
I love watching her sleep - so peaceful! Oh how she looks so much like Tyler here.
She is totally into biting on everything now - she's a big fan of this teething bracelet and these cute vulli teething rings. I even got her one of those Baltic Sea amber teething bracelets to wear - they're supposed to help with teething pain.. we'll see if they really work or not though..
We even thought we'd try some rice cereal - our pediatrician said we could start so we thought we'd do a trial run. Katelyn was not into it. Here's a video showing how much she didn't like it! (and yes, I know that bow looks ridiculous for some reason!)
And here's Katelyn's 19 week bear picture!
