Happy Mother's Day! (Week 148/10)

Happy Mother's Day everyone!  Hope everyone had a nice weekend celebrating with your kids or mom!  I am definitely glad that Will is back from his business trip, and thank goodness my mom was here with me Mon-Thur of last week!  Thank goodness for moms!

Last week Tyler's class held a special Mother's Day Tea - I was so excited to be able to go by myself.  (Originally I was going to have to bring Katelyn, which I think would have kind of sucked for Tyler because I couldn't give him all my attention.  Yay that my mom was here to help watch Katelyn at home.  Side Note:  seriously, my mom and Will are the only people I feel comfortable watching Katelyn so far.  Yes, I know. I'm overprotective huh!).  Anyway, here's Tyler and his friend Dylan.
Outside in the yard, they had tables set up with confetti and little potted plants.  Each pot was painted by one of the kids and had a picture of them painting the pot.  It took me a while to find Tyler's because his picture just happened to be really washed out for some reason.  He was very into the little shiny confetti butterflies and hearts on the table.  It was super cute - all the moms were there and the kids were saying "happy mother's day" (or some variation...) and there were lots of little sandwiches and stuff.  I think Tyler ate 3 cheese sandwiches!  Unfortunately, Tyler went running off playing with Dylan and tripped!  Dylan was right behind him and ended up falling on top of Tyler - and it caused Tyler to hit his head onto the concrete.  OUCH!  There was blood (gum/teeth/chin, and swollen lip) and a very unhappy Tyler.  After that, he was pretty adamant that he wanted to go home. Poor Tyler!
Back at home my mom was making lots of yummy food to stock up our fridge and my dad had arrived to pick her up.  Here's my dad with Katelyn.
Katelyn turned 2 months last week!  And instead of taking her to take professional photos we tried to take some fancier ones at home.  Will thought it would be cute to put a ribbon on her head - which I finally agreed to - but now I really don't like it.  Looks like an 80's headband or something, haha!  I guess I'll have to suck it up and pay $$ for overpriced little girl headbands.  Boo!  The dress was a 3 month dress that I seriously could barely get her to fit into.  Sigh.
Maybe if the bow was bigger - haha!  Love her skin coloring - she's so fair skinned (like Will!)
This one is like, please take this ribbon off of my head!
Super chubby cheeks.

This weekend we ventured out into the real world with both kids.  I had a coupon for 25% of Loehmann's and was on the lookout for a new purse - so we headed to the store at South Coast Plaza.  It's huge!  I didn't end up finding one I liked, but Tyler had fun. I think it was the first time we went clothes shopping?  While Will was in the car changing Katelyn's diaper, we played "follow the leader" where he followed me around as I looked through different racks.  Great way to keep him close!  Here's a picture! (Ooh, those sandals caused a major meltdown Friday morning at drop off.  They're too big for him so I wouldn't let him wear them - the fall at Mother's Day Tea was due to another pair of too-large shoes that he insisted on wearing.  He actually had to spend some time in the office that day due to being so upset!)
Afterward we had lunch outside near the fountains.  Katelyn was great and slept most of the time!  I am SO not getting enough use out of the bassinet feature of my UppaBaby stroller.
Tyler was really excited to see the fountains (even though he couldn't play in them).  Reminds me of when he was younger and was CRAZY about fountains!
He also insisted on riding the escalators a few times with Will. Totally fine with me, I got to browse the DSW store some more. :)
Before heading home, we stopped by Barnes & Nobles.  I nursed Katelyn in a nice little corner, and Will and Tyler got to read a few books together.  That was actually pretty nice, we should do that more often.
Mother's Day Sunday!  I've never been all that crazy about flowers (I still appreciate them though!) and this year Will changed it up with an edible arrangement.  Gold Star.  Although I'm sure there was some hinting on my part. Hah!  Tyler was really excited about the strawberries - he ate all of them that weren't covered in chocolate!
My two kids!  Tyler was bummed when there were no more strawberries left - he'd climb on the chair and look closely all around the remaining fruit hoping he had missed one.  It was so yummy, thanks honey!
That afternoon I snuck out for a quick massage.  It was SO nice, especially having peace of mind knowing Will was at home with the kids.  Katelyn even got a bottle of pumped breastmilk (which we really need to get better at doing) and took it just fine.  Will took Tyler and Katelyn to the local park.  Here's Tyler going down the slide - static electricity in his hair. haha!

He was constantly getting sand into his sandals so he'd stop and shake it out.  Funny moment: I had met them at the park after my massage.  It's just down the street from our house.  When we were heading home, I drove slowly down the street, and Tyler wanted to "race" (he's been really into racing lately...even going up the stairs, he'll run to the top and say: "I beat you, ha-ha!").  It was really cute watching Tyler pedal ferociously, until I realized that he was watching me the whole time and not watching where he was going!  Dangerous!  So Will made Tyler stop and I zoomed off.  Crisis adverted. :)
Katelyn is becoming more and more interactive every day!  Love it!  She's so alert and happy!  She doesn't like it when Tyler is crying.  Not at all.  Good thing Tyler doesn't have his meltdowns too often.  She'll cry the saddest cry when Tyler is throwing a fit!  On a positive note: her hair is starting to grow on the top of her head! :)
She's really starting to enjoy her swings and rockers and bouncers.  This means not having to be held all the time!  They're also great places to put her to have nice conversations with her.
Here's a picture of Katelyn and Will.  How sweet is that - Love it!
I'm horrible at remembering to do tummy time everyday.  She already only sleeps on her stomach - almost since birth! - so I'm not too worried about her neck muscles.  She does need to strengthen them though!  I love this picture - her hand is so tiny as she holds Will's finger, and she's holding her head up no problem!  (A good incentive that day - looking at the ceiling fan!)
Another super chubby cheek picture!
Tyler has been really helpful.  When he hears Katelyn make a sound on the monitor, he'll say: "I go check on Katelyn!".  He is SO sweet with her!  He also insisted on helping me wash dishes - if you ask him what mama is always doing, he'll say "cleaning!".  I can't help it!  Obviously he can't really be washing any of our breakable dishes, so I let him scrub a cutting board.  He loved it!
And lastly, Katelyn has found her thumb!  Before she was into sucking on her hand/fist but now she's discovered her thumb!  It's really cute! Except for the part where the rest of her fingers keep poking her in her eyes/nose/face!  We'll work on that... :)
Omg... how chubby is Katelyn!?
While we were taking pictures of Katelyn the other day, Tyler started dancing around and posing.  He wants the attention!  This picture I thought was so funny, what a pose, and a not-so-fake smile! :)
This picture reminds me of when Katelyn was younger and her cheeks weren't that huge that they overpowered her eyes!  She looks very interested in something..
Here's Katelyn again!
Yesterday I headed to an OC Babywearing meeting to get some help on my new Sweet Pea Ring Sling.  I've been a little sling crazy lately - but I can't help it - they are SO convenient (especially when I'm picking up Tyler from school).  Katelyn loves the ring sling, and another mom even let me borrow her babyhawk Mei Tai.  I'm super excited to try it out!
Last picture I think - Katelyn in her little rocker.  This is what she hangs out in when we're having dinner.  Sometimes she'll look at the little plastic toys hanging, but mostly she'll sit there and stare at me.  Makes me feel kind of guilty that I'm not holding her, but she's so happily looking/coo'ing at me. :)
She's got quite a rectangular head huh..
And we have a couple videos today!  Yay!

Tyler Making Funny Faces at Katelyn VIDEO - this one is cute - Katelyn loves looking at Tyler - I'm so excited for her to get bigger so that they can play together.

Mommy and Katelyn Singing Together VIDEO - Pardon my singing here, but it is so cute listening to her make all these sounds - totally seems like she's singing with me!

I can't get over how adorable she is! And her two month photos look great--I would never have guessed they were taken at home. Great job! =)
