Here are her stats:
birth weight: 7lb 13oz
weight at 2 days: 7 lbs 7 oz
weight at 6 days: 7 lbs 10oz
weight at 14 days: 8 lbs 7 oz
I can happily say she's gaining weight quite well, and is no longer in any worry-zone for jaundice. Of course, that first week+ of nursing was realllllly painful, but it we got through it thank goodness! Katelyn now has more periods of being awake - which means more smiley pictures! I am horrible at catching them in time with my camera though. I do LOVE it when she giggles though - seriously, she giggles sometimes! Sometimes when I look at these baby pictures of K, I totally see resemblances to Tyler when he was a baby also!
Tyler has still continued being really great with Katelyn. He always wants to know what she's doing, is she sleeping?, is she hungry? etc. He's very gentle with her and its really heart warming to see him give here these tiny little kisses on her head and toes. I've been wearing K more in different pouches and wraps, and Tyler wanted in on the fun too! Here's Will with Tyler in one of my pouches - omg Tyler is HUGE!
Our uppaBaby stroller comes with a bassinet (one of the main reasons I wanted it actually!) and we're always making sure that Mojo doesn't crawl into it (seriously, it was the first thing Mojo did when we got it!) - we never thought we'd have to keep Tyler out of it too! haha! Tyler's funny though - when I say, "awww, are you my baby?" He'll always say something like: "No! I'm not a baby, I'm Tyler Chang!"
This picture should have been in last week's post but we're still working out some kinks. Yes. It's happening again. That darn weekly photo with the stuffed bear. :) Here's Katelyn's week 1 picture (in her crib too! ... her first time in there!).
We had our first non-family visitor too this week! Yay! Mariam came over and it was great to have a normal conversation - even though it was mostly about Katelyn! :) Here's Mariam playing with Tyler!
And here's Mariam holding baby K! hehe, Katelyn's hair is almost as light at Mariam's! Not sure why, but Katelyn and Tyler both don't have super dark hair - wonder what I ate when I was pregnant to cause that!
This is a horrendous picture of me (zilch makeup and lack of sleep) but I had to post it because it was more visitors for Katelyn. Uhoh, I promise not to make this a habit! My aunt and my grandmother stopped by as well this week to see the new baby!
Katelyn has been super spoiled these last 2 weeks. And I'm totally fine with that. But today we decided that we HAD to start putting her down for her naps. She seriously has gone 2 full weeks of sleeping in someone's arms. ALWAYS. It has to stop! It was tough though, every time we tried to put her down, she'd wake up quick and fuss. Ugh. I spent most of the nights on the couch/rocking chair with her sleeping in my arms. It's time to stop! But look how cute she is...
We even took Katelyn out for a stroll around the neighborhood this week. In my uppaBaby stroller. OMG it was SO hot that day - like close to 90 degrees or something. K didnt mind, she was totally just chilling in the bassinet, on her BACK (which she normally is not a fan of!). Hopefully it'll cool down soon...isn't my stroller so pretty? :)
I think I mentioned that I got a new point-and-shoot camera - a Canon S90. It's pretty smart - when it's in Auto mode it'll detect the surroundings and change the settings accordingly. I can be taking a picture in a really dark room and it'll come out bright! Anyway, I wonder if that's what's going on with some of my pictures of Katelyn - is she really this pink and fair skinned? :)
2 week bear picture! What a difference a week makes? She's already much more alert!
So I mentioned earlier in this post - today - her 2 week birthday - is a BIG day. Today marked the first time she actually napped on her own! She actually napped on her tummy for like an hour+! Amazing! I have hesitations with tummy sleeping but as long as I'm nearby keeping an eye on her I feel pretty calm. Plus at night I got one of those overpriced Angel Motion Sensor monitoring thing for her mattress - just to give me piece of mind. She actually slept a little bit on her back too! I think she is just really not a fan of being swaddled - which is odd cuz Tyler really liked it!
My in-laws have been great! - they come over ~2x a week and play with Tyler and make food and leave me healthy delicious soups to drink (for milk production!). We're working on getting them to move closer!
Back to Tyler! He got a new pair of pajamas this week. We had to bust them out because 1) his flannel Thomas ones were getting quite warm and 2) he was outgrowing them! He's starting to wear 3T now instead of 2T. AHHH! My baby is growing up!
Tyler has a LOT of fun this past weekend. He had not one, but TWO birthday parties to attend! (He actually had 3 but 2 were at the same time - what a social butterfly huh!). The first one was at the Woodbridge bicycle park here in Irvine for his buddy Dylan's 3rd birthday. LOVE this park - it's enclosed and has paths/tunnels/bridges/etc for the kids to go through! I, of course, stayed at home with baby K to avoid the germs, but I made sure Will took a lot of pictures! Here's Tyler and some of his friends biking!
Love this picture. They're all ready to go! Tyler seems to be over his Thomas scooter lately - it was like a phase or something? Now he's all about his bike again. Will said there were 3 other little boys that had the same Thomas helmet as Tyler!
Ooh, they had a popcorn machine there too! Tyler LOVES popcorn because it's such a rare treat. :) Here he is chowing down with his friend Arden.
Here's Tyler with his friend Darren playing in the playground. How snazzy is he in his Penguin polo? Thanks Mariam and Trina! He's finally starting to be able to fit it!
Here's Tyler and Arden checking out their friend Zoe blowing a balloon. They look so interested and then excited! Ahh, to be a 2 year old again..
Ooh, this was funny. Since Tyler's shirt is still kind of big, he can bring his arm in easily. When his friends saw him do this, they decided they all wanted to do the same thing. Copycats! haha!
What's a birthday party without cake! Tyler is NOT a fan of cake though - as you can tell from his expression in the picture.
Near the end of the party, Tyler and Dylan made friends with some older kids who were also playing in the park. They're so friendly, aren't they!?
The big kids taught them how to play hide and seek - boys against girls. Here's Tyler, Dylan and one of the big boys hiding behind the bushes. Arden and Maddie are looking for them.. hmm.. where are they...
Uhoh- they've been found! Off the boys go running!
Tyler's great at singing Happy Birthday - although each verse is the same pretty much. Here he was singing it with Dylan (the birthday boy) and Arden, and they were swaying back and forth in sync! How cute is that!
And lastly, with his buddy Dylan. Dylan's dad is actually an Irvine Police Officer! Needless to say, Dylan is VERY well behaved. :) We want Tyler to learn from him. heehee.
That was a pretty rough day afterward though - Tyler woke up when he got home from the party since my aunt/grandmother was there (he usually knocks out and sleeps a couple hours after a day like that!) and refused to nap. He was QUITE the terror that night (I still shudder thinking about it!).
Katelyn is not quite a fan yet of her swing. I remember Tyler LOVED this thing when he was a newborn - sometimes it was the only way we could get him to sleep at night. Or maybe it was when he was older?...
Tyler still likes to be in the center of all the attention. :) One of my favorite parts of the day is the early morning when Tyler first wakes up - he calls out "mama, where are you?" and I head over there for some one-on-one time with my boy!
This weekend my parents also dropped by - they saw Katelyn the day she was born when we were still in the hospital, but have been so busy (going to the bay area for Kareen's new baby and a wedding) that this was only their second time seeing her! Whoops - didn't get a photo of my dad with baby K!
Sunday afternoon. Birthday party number 2. I am really starting to get bummed that I'm missing these fun outings! Anyway, this was for Tyler's friend Jack and was at Jack's house. They had a big bounce house and a slide! Gosh, Tyler and his friends LOVE bounce houses - and this one was really big!
It even had an attached slide. Tyler is NOT a fan of these slides. This is a shot of his first time down the slide that day - not looking too excited huh! Strangely enough, he decided to go again (peer pressure from his friends?) and this time he actually tried to hold onto the sides of the slide to slow down his descent. Needless to say, he didn't go on the slide again.
The party had a lot of older kids as well (Jack's older sibling's friends) and there was even a pinata. Ooh how exciting! Will said Tyler took 3 shots at the pinata...and missed each time. 3 strikes you're out! Sniff sniff, I missed Tyler's first time attempting to hit a pinata!
Here's the mayhem after the pinata broke. All the kids in a mad rush to collect candy! Pretty funny! They all had a plastic bag for their goodies.
Here's Tyler and his friend Zane afterward - checking out the goodies they had in their bag. When they got home, Tyler was so excited to show me his bag of goodies! It consisted mostly of mini sized Snickers and 2 candy bracelets. Good thing Tyler doesn't like chocolate! He was excited to try the candy bracelet, but then announced "I don't like it!" afterward. Weird that he's not into candy...
They had little craft tables set up too for the little ones. Tyler was really excited to put the foam stickers on the Easter eggs. Ooh - I think this year Tyler will finally be old enough to dye Easter eggs! Yay!
Finished masterpiece!
This is a totally random picture but I had to add it. Tyler still drools absentmindedly sometimes (yes, very annoying) - and he drooled a spot on my couch upstairs. I was annoyed since I was holding Katelyn and all I can think of is GERMS! Anyway, Tyler drooled and I was like ugh! and then he looked at his drool and said.. "it looks like a turtle!". And sure enough...turtle drool!
Here are some more newborn pictures of Katelyn. She's got as much hair as Tyler did. Hopefully it'll grow faster than Tyler's hair though - people were constantly asking if we had shaved his head!
This is Katelyn when she's super sleepy - her eyelids are so heavy that she actually gets a double eyelid! It doesn't stay though..
Will and baby K! She's so tiny!
Tyler and Katelyn. Our kids! I'm thinking 2 is a good number - one of each, I think we're good..
Sleeping Katelyn - nothing more precious than waking up to your newborn snoozing away next to you.
Here are a couple pictures from last week that didn't get posted - she seems so much tinier last week than this week! All bundled up in her carseat on the way to a doctor's office:
Another super sleepy photo. She's getting good at turning her head from side to side - although we should probably get more tummy time worked into her daily routine!
Here she is curled up next to me after nursing. She's SO tiny! And yes, she doesn't match. :)
This picture of her totally reminds me of Tyler as baby! I guess it makes sense for them to look alike!
Here's me with Katelyn.
And Will with Katelyn!
My moby wrap! I've gone a little off the deep end with babywearing, and this was my newest purchase. It works GREAT, except when it's hot (which it has been lately). Great. K really loves it, she'll sleep for hours in it, and I can even nurse her in it! But it only works if its not hot... which doesn't sound so promising with Summer quickly approaching..
And lastly, another picture of Tyler with his nai-nai. Having them here really helps keep him occupied and out of trouble. :)
Have a good week everyone! Next week's goal - post accompanying videos!
