Tyler's 3rd Halloween! (Week 121)

YAY! Finally I'm caught up on our blog posts!  And on the correct night!  Yippee!

This week was Tyler's 3rd Halloween - I think it's the first one that he actually enjoyed and understood.  It started on Thursday with trick-or-treating with his class at city hall (their school is right across the street).  I'm lucky enough with my work schedule that I was able to join the class (and other lucky parents) for the visit!  We practiced the night before with Tyler and his elephant costume, but he wasn't really feeling it - so I was a little nervous about how he would deal with it the next day.

And... it was NO problem!  Tyler was the CUTEST elephant ever.  I know I'm biased but it was just ridiculously cute - like kids can only wear these cute costumes when they're little - and he was SO adorable in it!  Ahhh!  I just wanted to hug him all day!  He LOVED wearing it too!

This is Tyler and his friend Dylan.  Heehee.  Dylan wasn't too stoked in this picture though (obviously). He had just pulled on Tyler's little elephant tail, making Tyler upset, and his dad made him apologize.  Tyler forgives quickly!

Here's a cute video of Tyler practicing his "trick or treat" at school before we headed over:

It was super cute seeing all of Tyler's friends dressed up in their costumes.  So wierd, now that Tyler's been in school for so long, it's like we know most of his school friends and their parents.  I had thought about changing schools but I don't know if I could take Tyler away from his friends!

Trick or treating at City Hall!  I've never actually been in there before - first stop was the Police department!  The city officials were super nice and it was so cute watching them Ooh and Aah over Tyler.

City hall trick-or-treating video - Tyler knows how its done!:

Here's Tyler with his friend Zoe (the lion) and Darren (the bumblebee).  They were the only ones in the furry costumes.  ... which caused them to get pretty HOT fast!  It was weird though, the night before it was SO cold that we had even turned on a heater in Tyler's room, and this day started out cold but warmed up really quickly!  (By the time I took off Tyler's costume when we finished, his head was completely wet with sweat! haha!).

Whew, taking a break from trick or treating with friends.  That's a heavy bag they have to carry!

That evening, we headed to dinner (at Chili's) with another family before hitting up Pretend City.  They were having a special Trick-or-Treating event for members only.  I haven't been to Chili's since high school (I think) but Tyler really enjoyed their kid sized pizzas!

So these are all pictures you've probably seen before from our visits to Pretend City - bur something about Tyler doing them in an elephant costume just makes them so funny!

Serious Elephant Tyler making a spooky phone call...

Dancing to the music!

Carpentry...Elephant style.

Gas Station attendant Elephant. haha!

Here'sTyler and his buddy Kaden outside of Pretend City.  Heehee, what a silly smile Tyler has!  I gotta say, the event was pretty sucky in my opinion.  There were only like 5 "trick or treating" stations.  oh well though, Tyler enjoyed playing with the exhibits though.

The next day we decided to hit a local pumpkin patch. Tyler is so spoiled! - that morning when he woke up, he said he wanted to ride a pony, so I looked around and found a nearby pumpkin patch that had ponies! It worked out great since he hadn't had an opportunity to visit one yet since we had just gotten back from the Bahamas.  We started out with a quick dinner at Mexican restaurant with a couple of other families.  I was REALLY surprised that Tyler ate almost his whole soft taco!

Tyler playing with his buddies.  This impromptu informal dinner outing was really fun - the kids always have so much fun together!

The local Pumpkin Patch.  Look, Tyler is 3 feet tall!

He had fun sitting on various pumpkins. :)

Ahh, the much anticipated moment - the pony ride!  There was ONE mini pony compared to the regular ponies there.  I asked Tyler which pony he wanted (thinking in terms of color) and he said "a little one!" and made a small indication with his finger.  Sure enough, when the attendee held his hand and walked him around the available horses, he picked the mini pony! HAHA!  I'm sure no one ever picks up the mini pony - especially not a boy!

Here's a video of part of the pony ride.  Tyler is so silly - he would pretend that his ride was super bumpy (oh yes, from the mini pony) and would move crazily back and forth on the pony and say "woooahhh woaaahhh!"  So silly.:

We also checked out the bounce houses as well!

There were a lot of different coin operated little rides - Tyler was very excited to ride the elephant - and even shared the seat with his buddy Kaden!

There were also large Teepees there.  The boys liked running inside while we banged on the outside - they thought it was HILARIOUS!  Unfortunately, it brought out a lot of dust that really gave Will and myself (to a lesser extent) horrible allergies!  We managed to get a group shot inside one though (after slightly intimidating the kids that were playing in there to leave.. heehee).

Halloween weekend!  Caught a cute photo of Mojo just lounging on my body pillow in the living room.. he is such a lazy kitty!

Tyler was ready to get some real trick or treating done!  He loved wearing his costume!

We also did some pumpkin carving that day.  Tyler wasn't feeling his little pumpkin anymore (even though he was all for it a few days ago) and wanted to help Will carve the big one.  Doh!  Still managed to get a happy picture of him with his mini pumpkin though.  :)  Ooh, and I toasted the pumpkin seeds - they turned out super yummy (but a bit burnt. Doh!)

Here's Tyler sitting next to his Dora pumpkin - totally ready for some trick or treating (no candy consumption of course!)

He was kind of scared at the first few houses we went - I thought he would love pressing the doorbell!  Next year we'll have to go with other kids so he won't feel so scared.

He finally warmed up when we visited our neighbor Roger's house.  Cute!

Here's a video of Tyler trick or treating at our neighbors.  He actually (I think) says Trick or Treat and Happy Halloween!:

Our last stop was our house where my dad was manning the front door while we made a quick round.  Tyler was really not afraid to get candy from his grandfather!

Here's a picture of our Dora pumpkin.  We got a lot of compliments from various kids!  Funny moment - an elementary aged boy asked if I had cut it or bought it.  I said, oh my husband cut it - and he said, oh yeah, I figured.  !? Hmph!  Just because I've never carved a pumpkin before...haha...

Here's Tyler and Will at the front door ready to give out candy!

Here's a picture of myself with my parents and grandmother.  It was nice for them to visit and bring lots of yummy Chinese food!

And lastly, girls picture of the week!  Yum, I actually ate some raw salmon at sushi that day - I just couldn't help it.  And oh, it was GOOD.

Have a good week everyone!  Yippee, I'm caught up in posts!  Don't forget to read (and comment, ahem) the Bahamas posts!  I backdated each day. :)

@joanh & @kareen - Tyler's favorite animal is the elephant. We couldn't have lucked out any more than to get a costume that he loves. A teacher at this daycare even commented that when they see elephants on TV/etc they think of Tyler.
