Tyler's Atlantis adventure day 7 & 8! More of the Current and heading home! (Week 120)

The last 2 days of our trip - Day 7 and 8!  We set out bright and early Saturday morning to spend a full day at the Current - Tyler had loved it so much the previous day we wanted to make sure he got enough.  We started at the Beach Towers and took some photos with the dolphins. (Don't let the time stamp on the picture fool you though, it's still set on LA time - 3 hours behind - 10:30am WAS early for us on this vacation!).  Oh, and Will is totally sporting the vampire pale look of too much sunblock! :)

Off we are on the Current again!

Here's a fun video of Tyler going through the waves:

There were a lot more people in the morning than the previous day's afternoon.  Not enough to make it too crowded though, but we got a lot of "SO CUTE!" comments about Tyler.  He was so excited!

Here's the conveyer belt for the ride.  There's even a separate conveyer belt that will take you to some of the larger crazy waterslides, so that you don't even have to get off your tube!

When Tyler napped that afternoon, Will went off to do the crazy slides in the Power Tower.  You go up really high for each of the starts - and it lets you out right back into the Current.  Nifty huh!  Here are some pictures he took from the top of the Power Tower.

So nice huh!

That's the Mayan Temple with the racing slides coming off one side of it.  There are slides on all 4 sides of it, and the other side has the shark tank!

With Trina watching a napping Tyler, Will and I decided to check out the Serpent slide.  I had talked to some people who told me it wasn't a drop-slide, but more of a quick circular ride - like going through a serpent.  Plus I saw the people on it just floating through the shark tank at the end, and figured it would be OK to do.  However, when we got to the top, I definitely was having second thoughts!  It looked quite fast!!  Oh man, the fun I would have had if I wasn't pregnant! haha!  The lady in front of us in line assured me that it wasn't scary at all - and she was the biggest chicken!  Decision made.  Let's do this!  Here's a video of us going down the slide. Notice I'm very quiet - I think I was holding my breath and keeping my fingers crossed that it wouldn't get too crazy!  (It didn't, by the way, and was pretty fun!).  Plus, I got to float through the shark tank - that was pretty cool!:

Here's a picture of the Power Tower slides that Will went on.  I'm so jealous!  There were parts where the water pressure would just shoot you up!

Each day, after his beach/pool-side nap, Tyler would wake up in the BEST mood!  Good thing we brought a couple packages of apple juice (we'd freeze them the night before so they'd be really cold the next day) and lychee jelly!  Food was so expensive!

Silly Tyler.  He liked playing with my (Target Clearance!) hat.  I got started on Trina's "Eat, Pray, Love" book - can't wait to finish it.  I hear Julia Roberts is filming the movie version right now!

Since it was our last day, we made sure to make the most of it. More riding on the Current!  I love these next few pictures - Tyler has the biggest smile!  Plus, I realized that he could sit fine on the middle of the tube without actually leaning into my stomach, so we got to enjoy the ride together!

Love the happy smile.  Tyler really was at the perfect age to be able to start enjoying himself.  I'm so glad that we got to have these memories with him before his little sister arrives!

Check out the force of the current! ... and Tyler's huge smile throughout!  We actually had a guy next to us in the Wave section get flipped over by the wave - that actually freaked me out a bit...if it wasn't so funny to watch!

Even after we stopped riding the Current, Will and Tyler had a great time just bouncing around in the water.  It was so cute - Tyler was having so much fun.

At closing time, we packed up all our gear and headed back to Harborside (and somehow lost Tyler's swim trunks, sniff sniff, along the way). Our shuttle driver heard we us talking about going to the Marina Village for dinner, and our concern about going back to the hotel and not making it back out (very likely!) that he actually dropped us off AT the Marina village!  How nice of him huh!  We had dinner Bimini Road - Bahamian food.  Tyler really liked their fish sticks - they weren't fried at all!  And I had a DELICIOUS lobster/shrimp/crab wrap. YUM!

The next morning was bittersweet as we packed up everything and checked out.  I absolutely LOVED staying at Harborside - it was so roomy and wonderful to have a kitchen and washer/dryer as well.  I know for sure we couldn't have done a week in a single hotel room with Trina - it would have just been too cramped!  This was so perfect - we saved money on food from eating in and packed lighter since we were able to do laundry whenever we wanted!

After checking out, we headed down to the touristy stores and did some souvenir shopping.  Then we had brunch at Antonios - they had surprisingly un-oily fish sticks for Tyler too!  By this time, my heat rash was FULL BLOWN on my body and I had been spraying a numbing lidocaine spray all over the last few days without too much relief.  I had itchy red bumps all over that were painful to scratch, but oh so satisfying.  Haha.  Hey, at least it wasn't shingles!

It was not so fun walking around in the hot sun and not in our swimsuits.  I did get Tyler to wear his cute Hawaiian shirt though! :)

We had our same shuttle service take us back to the airport - this time he gave us an inner city tour and even drove us by Anna Nicole Smith's burial site.  Some of the streets were under construction and he mentioned he was trying to keep it as smooth as possible for us - I told him no worries - Tyler had already fallen asleep - but he said he meant for my pregnant self!  Haha!  I assured him definitely no worries since this baby had gone on the Current/Rapids/Waves!  He said the baby will be a thrill seeker for sure. heehee.  We'll see!

Customs was a breeze to get through, and I had to (sadly) say goodbye to my lidocaine spray since it wasn't allowed in our carryon.  Ahhh the itchiness!  I compensated with lots of painful slapping. heehee.  Tyler did fine on the flight, and slept for a good portion (yay!).

At DFW, we had a 2 hour layover so we grabbed dinner while Tyler played in the toddler play area.  Really?  I've never been to an airport that had a play area for kids! But then again, I don't travel that much.  Tyler had a great time riding the planes and cars and crawling through tunnels.  They even had cartoons on!  Sad part - he was running towards us laughing hysterically to get a bite of chicken nuggets (I think we had said something like: "Tyler, no eating chicken nuggets!" - Swiper style) and he ran straight into the corner of a telephone kiosk!!!?  How did he not see that!  It should have been on America's Funniest Home Videos or something it was so crazy.  Poor Tyler - he got quite a ding on his forehead from that lost fight with a metal phone kiosk...

Finally on our last flight before we reached LAX. There was a last minute change of planes that put us on a Boeing plane that is usually used for transcontinental flights - definitely much roomier and more comfortable!  Will, Tyler and I had the middle three seats with aisles on both sides of us.  Strangely, Tyler, who had no problems with the carseat on the previous flights, all of a sudden was VERY uncomfortable sleeping in his carseat!  So weird.  We ended up unlatching it and having him sleep in our laps.  Still very weird.  Here's Tyler napping in his carseat - he insisted on wearing his sunglasses - saying it was "too bright" in the cabin!

Ahhh, what a glorious and amazing trip. Hands down the best vacation ever.  I can't imagine it being any better - probably because we got to share it with Tyler.  He brings us so much happiness with all his silliness - I'm so glad we decided to bring him on our vacation!
