Day 2! Monday morning we woke up nice and relaxed. Tyler woke up and the first thing he said was: "Where's Auntie Trina?" - then crawled out of his bed and ran into the living room where Trina was still sleeping on the pullout. It was the weirdest thing - he crawled onto bed with her and sat next to her with his arm around her while she slept. In the dark! Will and I would peak out every once in a while and he'd just sit there quietly stroking her hand. Obsessed I tell ya! Will took a shuttle that morning to the city market to pick up perishable items such as milk / juice / eggs for the week while we hung out at the hotel and relaxed. Tyler was great as long as he could watch his Dora DVDs (there were DVD players in both the bedroom and living room so he had his choice of what he wanted to watch depending on which room he was in! Spoiled!).
After Will got back and we had a yummy brunch (mmmm..ham and egg sandwiches!) we headed back out to the Royal Towers. It was still pretty overcast, and we weren't sure if we'd actually be getting into any water - but we brought everything just in case. Here we are back at the aquariums.
We checked out a bunch of lagoons that day - saw lots of sharks, sting rays and sea turtles! There were lagoons right outside of hotel rooms with sharks just hanging out! We had to make sure Tyler didn't get too close to the edge! We were bummed to find that one of their water rides - the Lazy River - was closed for the next few weeks. Ahh! I had been counting on just floating around and around that mile-long river since it was really slow and easy going. Boo.
Here's a video of us with the sea turtles.
Here's Tyler and Will.
Tyler was a little crazy about telephones on this trip. Everytime he saw one, he would yell 'elephone!!' and run up to it to make a pretend phone call. We've noticed that he doesn't really pronounce his "T's" clearly. He says "Aiyler" for Tyler and "elephan" for elephant. No T's! Hmm - should we be worried?
There was so much to see just walking around - here we are on a big rope bridge. I was probably more worried than Tyler was. :)
Heehee, our cheesy picture for the trip. Atlantis is amazingly family friendly - I'm so glad we decided to bring Tyler along with us.
We saw a lot of water sports as we walked around - and Tyler was pretty adamant that he wanted to ride the water bicycles. I would have given in if I didn't need to use the bathroom so bad! Good thing we're able to somewhat reason with Tyler now, and promised that we would do it soon. He did try out the snuba gear though. :)
Here's Trina and I in front of the Royal Towers. I had always thought that that was a walkway connecting the buildings, but turns out its a single, giant suite! How awesome is that!

Family picture! Tyler had SUCH a blast on this trip - he LOVED everyday and I am so happy that we got to enjoy this trip together as our little family before we introduced a new baby into the mix. ... not that Tyler isn't spoiled already though, haha!
Even though the weather was pretty overcast, we decided to get into the water anyway! The Splasher's Kid's pool was so awesome that Tyler was itching to get in - and the water was heated! It was really warm water! Tyler loved that it was zero-entry, so he could just walk in himself and not worry about it getting deep quick.
Here's a picture of the playground in the water. It was crazy - there were slides and water cannons, etc everywhere. Tyler was too chicken to go on a slide (unsurprising!) but loved turning all the wheels and stuff to spray water.
Favorite activities: Riding us like a horse! He would make neighing sounds and say "riding horsy!". He had no problem with his life jacket either - and liked floating around. He'd yell out 'I'm floating away!!!" He loved it!
Here's a couple group pictures in the water. You can see how excited and happy Tyler is. I was a little worried going in that he would not like the water at all - but what a relief! We even practiced his swimming between us - and he eventually stopped freaking out when he got water splashed in his face!

Family picture! Love our waterproof camera. :)

One of the best things about the water - Tyler loved it so much that he didn't mind just playing with Will! Usually he's pretty clingy and will want me to stay with him - but Trina and I were able to sneak off and relax on some of the lounge chairs. And the best part - no guilt since Tyler was having a great time with Will and Will loved it! :) One of my goals on this trip was literally to sleep and read and relax. Totally accomplished!
Here are some shots of Tyler playing in the water. This wheel would turn on/off multiple bursts of water. Tyler kept wanting us to stand in the path of water so that he could splash us!
Amazing. Water in the face and no freaking out. If only we could carry this over to bathtime...
Here's a video of Tyler playing with Will.
With Tyler happily playing with Trina, Will and I snuck off to the Mayan Temple water slides. I, unfortunately, couldn't go on them - but Will got to! Here's Will at the top right...
And then down at the bottom. Silly me for not getting a shot of how steep the drop is!
As it started to get windier, we packed up our gear and headed back to the hotel. Here's Tyler wrapped in his towel. Everyday we would get the required wristbands to show that we were allowed to use the Aquaventure water park (all Atlantis guests must have these) and the towels were unlimited. That was the best part - we could get fresh, dry towels anytime throughout the day!
On the way out, Will and Trina raced on the challenger slides - Here's a video of the race!
That night we stayed in and made spaghetti - we were too pooped to really do much else. Tyler watched his DVDs while we read magazines/books and just relaxed. Atlantis actually offers free movies in their theater as well as comedy shows, but we were pretty happy just chilling in our room. Now if it was just a single hotel room - we'd probably end up going doing something so we wouldn't be so cramped, but we had so much room that everyone had their own space!
Here's a video of Tyler before bedtime that night - he still had a lot of energy burn off - surprisingly! I've never seen him attack bubbles so voraciously!
Stay tuned for most posts - coming up - swimming with dolphins!

ooooh fun slide! did they have areas for kids to play?
@joanh - There are tons of places for kids to play. A lot of pools are the gradual entry pools so it makes it easier for infants/toddlers to make their way into the water without steps to trip them up. The toddler play area has water canons, sprays, valves, slide and other things.
That looks SOOOO FUN!! Condo is definitely the way to go for our next family trip. And I love that you brought a suitcase full of food, that is ingenius, and reminds me of back in the day when we'd eat instant noodles in our room! Good times! Plus it really gives you the option to just chill in the room rather than being forced to go out just to eat something. I love it!
What a great trip!! It's awesome that it was able to be a whole-family adventure, and the villa was a great and practical idea. Tyler seems to have really enjoyed it...
hey will, which camera do you guys have that's waterproof? or is it a case?
We picked up the Canon D10 waterproof point-and-shoot for this trip. It consistently got great reviews.
