A Girl!, Jason Mraz, and back to back Playdates!! (Week 118)

What an exciting weekend we had! To start out though, I am SUPER stoked that the weather is getting cold. I love it! Love it! However, bad side of it is that now the kids get germy and sick and Tyler has already got a cough that's been going around his classroom. Boo. Hopefully he'll get through it this week and be nice and healthy for our vacation!

First - the biggest news - we found out on Friday that baby #2 is going to be a ... GIRL! I am so ridiculously excited! I was starting to feel nauseous from waiting to find out - and I seriously thought I was going to pass out since I was holding my breath as the ultrasound technician was looking around. How exciting is this! A GIRL! Bad thing... is that we may have to paint the guest bedroom yellow or pink now. I don't think the blue is appropriate anymore. (Will's going to kill me! HAHA!)

Here's a picture of the baby at our 20 week anatomy scan.

And here's a video of the tech telling us we're having a girl! I swear, she was messing with me, she was taking forever! haha!

Later that afternoon I met up with my girls to celebrate the great news. They're equally as stoked that it's a girl too! They even got the baby her first gift! Super cute! Thanks girls!

Whew. What excitement! There's more though! Saturday Will and I headed to the Hollywood Bowl to see Jason Mraz in concert. I LOVE Jason Mraz! We so very very rarely get a night out alone - definitely a very special occasion. Will's parents came over and watched Tyler for us - I'm still not that comfortable with leaving Tyler but I made it through knowing that we weren't actually going to be gone overnight. Here are we are!

It was a great concert - he is even better live than on the CD. Seriously. I was really amazed! I've got perfect pitch (not to brag or anything! heehee) so when someone sings off pitch, it kind of irks my ears. But he was amazing - and in person he sings so much more passionately! I loved it! Food at the bowl was ridiculously expensive though ($12 for a little california roll that I HAD to have), and I had a large woman next to me (she had a single aisle seat) who was dancing so ferociously I was worried she'd knock me out...

I <3 Jason Mraz! I wasn't feeling it as much when he sang his older songs cuz I didn't know them - I'm a new fan! But whenever he sang anything from his new album, everyone would jump and and start cheering. AAAHHH! It was wonderful. Thanks honey for getting us tickets!

Sunday was a day full of activities with Tyler and his school friends. We started out the morning at a bike park in Woodbridge (here in Irvine). It was so cool! This community has awesome amenities for their homeowners! The bike park is totally enclosed (it needed a card key for entry and exit) and has a bike path that has tunnels, bridges, goes up and down-hill, has little moguls and even a gas pumping station!

Tyler has a pretty large tricycle - bigger than the ones his friends have. Even on the smallest setting (the seat slides) he can't really push it all the way to the ends. This isn't such a big deal, except there are fun little bumps at this park!

It was so funny watching Tyler and his friends ride their bikes. Tyler is pretty slow since it takes a full leg-extended push to get through a cycle. The other boys had much smaller bikes and could do 3-4 revolutions while Tyler did one - they didn't even have to unbend their knees!

There was even a little play area in the middle of the park. The boys were pretty crazy about this airplane ride. Tyler was not sharing, and didn't like sitting in the back. Sheesh!

This was a fun picture of Tyler throwing the leaves/woodchips in the air. He loves playing with his friends Kaden and Dylan! These three boys are hilarious together - they have so much fun, but there's also a lot of hitting and non-sharing going on. I guess boys will be boys!

We had a nice lunch at the park before we all headed home for naps. There was even a yummy dessert that one of the moms made - a fruit parfait with custard! It was so yummy and sugarfree! - but Tyler would only eat the strawberries. He's so weird. Here's a group picture from the playdate. Tyler fell asleep almost immedately after we left the park - he had a lot of fun!

After naptime (which Tyler woke up groggily at one point asking where his friend was, whined when he couldn't see him and then fell back to sleep..) we ran some errands and then headed to playdate #2! Tyler's friends from earlier were there (Kaden and Dylan) and they got to play with all their friend Maddie's toys. She has the most awesome playroom - and is such a girly girl. I love it! Plus their house is SO awesome and beautifully decorated. I want a house makeover now! :) Here are the boys checking out Maddie's pink laptop.

They even set up a table next to the main dining room table for the kids to sit at to read and eat their dinners. How cute is that! I wish I had room!

Here's Tyler and Maddie doing 'cheers!' with their milk cups. Tyler really liked playing with Maddie (they used to be in the same class together but she's in pre-2 now while the rest of the kids are in pre-1. She's a little older - turning 3 this month!) - he would follow her around and do whatever she did! Super cute!

This is how he shows he likes her. By doing a headstand next to her? heehee. She had a Dora book which Tyler was CRAZY about. I shouldn't be worried that he's so into Dora, should I?...

By the end of the night, the kids were mesmerized watching Mickey Mouse while the parents sat around and chatted. It was actually a really fun night - I'm starting to be a believer that life CAN be fun after you have kids! heehee! I think a lot of it depends on the other families/parents you hang out with - these parents are a really fun and cool group!

Group picture! I'm totally looking forward to many more of these get-togethers. We're actually going to be missing Maddie's 3rd bday party while we're away at Bahamas - I think I am a little more bummed than I should be - I'm TOTALLY bummed!!

Some things to note from this week: Tyler seems to be kind of afraid of the dark! Tyler really doesn't like Halloween decorations and is especially scared/annoyed with spider webs.  Hmm. I got my hair cut/colored - the result was not as desirable as I had hoped, but I still like it.   Baby #2 is kicking so much that Will can feel her kick already.

Here's a video to leave you all with - Tyler dancing while watching Glee! He really enjoys watching that show with us, and will ask "more dancing please" when the numbers are over. :)

Have a good week everyone! Next week's post may be made LIVE next to a pool in the Bahamas! heehee!
