Birthdays and a Going Away Party (Week 116 Part 1)

Once again I'm behind on posts. Ahhh! Playing catchup. This week we had to cut our post into two different parts - there was just too much going on!

First - last Friday (25th) we celebrated Will's 33rd birthday with a quiet dinner at our favorite prime rib restaurant - Five Crowns in Corona del Mar. I really can't remember the last time we had a quiet fancy dinner! Bizarrely, I was totally not feeling the prime rib and ended up ordering a really bad Coconut Shrimp and Scallops entree. What was I thinking?! Oh yeah, that's right, blame the pregnancy - not my normal taste buds!
Afterward we went to pick up Tyler at his BFF Vincent's house. This was bittersweet, as it will be Tyler's very very last play date with Vincent. SOB! I still have trouble accepting that Tyler's BFF will be moving out of state to Texas this week. WAHHH!
Saturday we had a small get together with some friends to jointly celebrate both mine (29!) and Will's birthdays. We had almost canceled earlier in the week due to Will getting over a cold and my horrible Shingles pain - but luckily we recovered and were feeling better. Besides, I can't really remember when we did something for us versus something that was all about Tyler. :) My girls brought some very fun cupcakes! Hello Kitty and Transformers! Tyler really liked wearing the little rings that came as toppers on the cupcakes.
Quick group picture before we blew out the candles. Reminder for next year: don't have so much food! We wanted to keep it low key but Will didn't get the memo when it came to preparing food. We're still eating leftovers! Also, I swore to myself that I would not be pregnant when I turn 30 -> I'm thinking... VEGAS? It's a big one!
With my girls Trina and Mariam!
Tyler was having a great time showing off his toys to the two little 1 year olds that were there. Poor Tyler - he does easily get emotional though. At one point, Avery accidentally bumped into him (she's a new-ish walker and it was totally not on purpose) and Tyler got so upset! He even proclaimed angrily that "baby Avery pushed him"! We really need to toughen him up. He liked showing her his slides though.
Here we are with Ruby, Howard and their super cute daughter Avery! Looks like Tyler has forgotten about the pushing incident already. When Avery would leave the area, he would say, "Where baby Avery go?". Come back soon to play you guys!
The next few pictures show the power of... gummies. Yes. I'm proud to say that we've gone a couple days now without giving Tyler any! Whew! But anyway, Tyler will do anything for gummies - including give everyone kisses and hugs!
Here he is blowing kisses to Avery!
Sunday was a big day for us as well. We hosted a going-away get together for Tyler's BFF and invited some of Vincent's school friends and their families. It was really fun getting the group together, but sucked that it was for a sad occasion. WAH! Still not dealing with it...

Here's Tyler playing with Arden.
I was in the other room when Vincent and his family arrived - all I heard were squeals of delight from Tyler and his friend Kaden as they saw that Vincent was there. They are all such good friends and so happy to see each other!
I love our backyard more and more every time we have kids over. It really is such a fun place to play!
Lunch was pretty low key - good thing all the kids love pizza! It sure was hot though outside - good thing we have one of those big umbrella things for shade. Also, my ghettoness paid off with all the saving of those plastic cups from Macaroni Grill/Islands/etc that come with the kids meals - the kids all had their own and we could put watered down juice in them instead of giving them juice boxes!
Somehow the boys started playing with these little water guns we had. Tyler was 'assassinated' by them all at once. You can see (on the left picture) one of the guns still pointing at him and Tyler protesting for his life. Those boys sure love to play with little guns!
At one point, one of the little girls (9 months?) touched Tyler lightly on his face and he freaked out! He started crying and yelling that "baby tickled me!!". Aiya, man up Tyler!

The three Musketeers / Amigos! I haven't decided which nickname I like better yet. How cute are they! Although, this picture reminds me more Charlie's Angels. heehee.
Who knew you could fit 4 kids on this climber!
This picture I thought was so funny - the kids are protecting their fortress or something - they're all so concentrated on aiming at something!
Here's a cute video of three of the boys (Dylan, Vincent and Tyler) playing with Will in the living room. It was nice since there were so many toys to keep the kids occupied that us parents got to hang out and chat. We really need to do this more often - it was a lot of fun!

Here are our guests of honor! We are going to miss them so much!
The kids knew to sit in a circle while they waited for the cake to be cut. Ahhh, their school has trained them well. :)
Tyler is such a picky eater - he doesn't like chocolate, and apparently this cake was not to his liking either. This video shows him with a yucked out face and going to go play with his trains after he takes one bite!

Group picture! Everyone thought it was so funny that Tyler was the photographer. If a kid came up while he was still looking through the viewfinder, he'd tell them to go sit back down. He had no trouble pushing the button and running to his spot - all by himself!
Tyler took a really late nap that day - he knocked out from 2pm-5pm! I'm thinking the other kids must have done the same - the original plan was for the party to be 10-12 but the kids were having so much fun that no one left until 2pm! We didn't mind at all - it was a lot of fun!

Later that afternoon my in-laws dropped by and took us out to dinner for our birthdays at Lucille's, a BBQ joint at the District. Tyler was on pretty good behavior!
Group picture with our two free birthday sundaes. I wasn't feeling them so much, but their banana pudding is quite yummy!
Tyler is seriously becoming more and more of a photographer everyday. These are photos that he took all by himself with my camera. Ok, so there's room for improvement - note the finger on the lens in the lower left corner photo - but still! I'm impressed! :)
And lastly, we've been preparing for our Bahamas trip and dug out Tyler's old life jacket from our houseboat trip last summer - it still fits - just barely! YAY!
Next post: Disneyland!
