Hanging out with Friends! (Week 110)

What a fun weekend we had! We'll dive right into it. :) Saturday was the 1 month celebration for our friend Shirley & Jesse's baby Sharon. Everything was looking good as we worked in the yard in the afternoon (new strawberry and tomato plants!) and got ready to head up to Rowland Heights for dinner. Until... the power went out! Ack! A car accident outside our community caused the entire neighborhood to lose electricity! I have never felt so dependent of electricity as I looked at my useless hair iron. Thank goodness we were able to stop at my brother's place near the restaurant. :)

Tyler was SO excited to see his buddy Jake at dinner. We got their before Jake's family did and Tyler kept asking 'Where's Jake?!' He was ridiculously happy when Jake and family arrived. Even though Jake is almost 2 years older than Tyler, they still have a lot of fun together! This is a funny picture from the evening - Jake is laughing at something and Tyler has this hilarious-annoyed look on his face. He really does love Jake though!
Dinner was yummy - I love the full course Chinese dinners. :) Surprisingly, one of Tyler's favorite things that night was the giant lobster/crab puffs. He ate an entire one himself!
Ooh, here's a good picture that shows how excited Tyler was to hang out and sit with his buddy.
And eating another lobster puff. They were yummy.
It was a really fun night, seeing friends we hadn't seen in a while and making new ones. There was a lot of drinking involved too (not by us though) so everyone was having a great time! Here's Jesse doing a toast with Tyler and Jake.
After a while, the boys were done sitting in their seats and ready to play. Boys sure like to rough house! It was funny, Tyler is quite a follower with older kids - he'll do whatever they do. Jake was hugging Brandon so Tyler hugged Jake. It's cute though, before Tyler transitioned into his Pre-1 classroom, he was one of the oldest kids in his toddler class for about a month, and we got to see him be the leader and direct the smaller kids to do things. :)
Thank goodness there were balloons. Balloons will keep all little kids preoccupied. Strangely though, at the end of the night, I asked Tyler if he wanted to take the balloons home, and he said No! He usually can't get enough of them!
I got to have some non-Mom time and chat with some friends while Tyler ran around (with Will's supervision of course) with the other kids playing with their balloons. Here's my friends Jenny and Shirley and me. I'm totally on the wrong side of the picture. Oh well.
Here's a funny picture of the boys with Jesse's mom. I thought it was funny how Jake had his hand on Tyler's face and Tyler didn't seem to mind at all. I kind of expected him to have a little fit and say that Jake gave him an ouchie or something. Whoohoo - Tyler's being less sensitive!
Group picture with the guests of honor! We had to patiently wait to get this picture because they were in high demand for pictures - but we got it! :) Sharon is so tiny! - I totally can't remember Tyler being that tiny, I can't even remember him being only 1 month!
The next day Tyler was so excited that his friends were coming over to play again. He had a tee time with Jake and Brandon! Here they are surveying the green...
There were a few instances of sharings issues, but that's pretty normal with this age! I sure hope Tyler gets better at it though. He was INSISTENT on playing with one of Jake's clubs (which were just THAT much more interesting to play with than his own, for whatever reason). Here they are playing with boats in the water.
This is why Tyler breaks his toys. He is so reckless. There is a DOOR Tyler!
That night we had dinner at Fukada - I always forget how much I like their noodles there (Will's a big fan of their Seafood Salad). They are super kid friendly there too - it was great! Here are some pictures of Tyler hamming it up for the camera with Jake. It was so cute, they had their arms around each other and everything!
So, what other things have been going on this week. Tyler is talking more and more - sentences with 4-5 words in them! He's been having a hard time with drop off at daycare for some reason - hopefully it's just a phase. He can climb into his carseat by himself now and click the top seat belt buckle.

We ran out of strawberries - good thing Tyler loves fruit. Here he is with a whole container of grapes. He wouldn't let me give him one at a time - he had to hold the whole thing.
Yogurtland! We were eating at a Korean restaurant in the Yogurtland plaza and had to walk by Yogurtland to get to it. As we walked by, Tyler stopped, looked at me, pointed at Yogurtland and said, smiling, "This Way??!" heehee.
I forget if I posted this one before - but this is Tyler and his mini ice cream cone at Soup Plantation. I thought it was funny how happy he was even though it was so tiny.
Ooh and we totally washed the cars this weekend. The SUV was too dirty to do ourselves - I really tried - but DANG it was SO dirty with all of Tyler's stuff/food/junk. Tyler did help Will wash my car though. :)
We also went to this Masonry supply store in Lake Forest to buy some rocks. Yes, rocks. Who knew rocks were so expensive! The rocks are all in these wire-enclosed crates, and there would be rocks all around it that had fallen out when they were scooping orders. Tyler, being as picky as he is, insisted on picking up the rocks around the crate and putting them back in. Hah!
We've been playing outside a lot, and I had a blanket one day. Tyler told me "It's cold" and wanted the blanket wrapped around him, and then walked around with it. It wasn't even really cold!
And a very fun week of seeing girlfriends! Tiff, my friend from WAY back (and one of my bridesmaids) came down to have lunch - it was awesome catching up!Went to an Awareness meeting one night with my girls Trina and Mariam - it was to raise awareness of the plight of the Congolese women who are being sexually assaulted amidst their country's civil war. VERY eye opening...and depressing.
And dim sum with 2 of my friends from college - Amber and Nancy and Shirley. We were actually all sorority pledge sisters a LIFETIME ago. :)
And lastly, a silly video of Tyler being, well, silly.
Have a good week everyone!
