So, I think I've mentioned a few times that we've decided to wait a bit before we really start to do any real potty training. In the meantime, we're getting him to sit on the little potties we have just to get used to it. Even last week he had asked to sit on the potty (when I say request, I mean him saying 'pee-pee?' and pointing at the potty) and he would then sit down and pee in it.Anyway, this weekend he was saying 'pee-pee?' but didn't want to sit on the potty. I grabbed this elmo toilet seat (for kids) and Tyler gladly sat on the toilet,... and peed in it! Yay! That was really exciting. Brace yourselves though. Earlier tonight, Will was going to the bathroom. Tyler saw him and came over after Will flushed and asked 'poo-poo'? We didn't have the Elmo toilet seat nearby so Will put Tyler directly on the big adult-sized toilet seat! Tyler sat a bit looking into the toilet and seemed like he was trying to push. Will got closer, and then Tyler used Will to push!.. and then... thump!... Tyler pooped in the toilet! YAY! After a little more coaxing, he pee-peed as well after the poo-poo. It's so exciting to realize that Tyler can ask to do this! Of course, we won't be pushing him, but I am so excited nontheless!
Here's a photo of Tyler looking very pleased with himself after his first poop in a real toilet. He was clapping his hands!
Will and I saw Star Trek this past week. How amazing huh – a movie actually in a theater as compared to Netflix? I must say, it was an AWESOME movie! Reminded me of Transformers- another movie I didn’t think I’d like but really enjoyed!
Another big step – Tyler got his second hair cut this week! We were bracing ourselves for the worse, after his total and complete meltdown after his first haircut. Maybe it was seeing Will getting his haircut, or seeing other older boys, but he was really calm. Strangely calm.
Here’s a before picture...
And here’s an after picture... Much less hair!
Here’s a little video clip of Tyler on the chair. Good job Tyler! This past weekend was Tyler’s great-grandma’s 90th birthday party. It was nice getting together with all of Will’s relatives – and they were really excited to see Tyler also! Tyler was quite well behaved at the restaurant (yum, 10 course seafood lunch!) and was ENTHRALLED by their fish tank in the front. It was pretty crazy. Here’s a photo of all of us at lunch.
We’ve realized that Tyler’s second favorite person is Will’s dad – his grandpa. It sure is crazy! I think Will’s dad is the only one who can always take Tyler from me without any objections. Usually Tyler is pretty quick with the No’s! Here’s a photo of Tyler with Will’s dad and grandmother.
