Tyler's first weekend with the grandparents! (week 83)

Hi everyone! This post will be Tyler-lite since Will and I took a snowboarding trip this past week. It was the first time that Will and I have been away from Tyler for longer than 1 night (and that's only been twice anyway). We left Tyler in good hands though - Will's parents came over and spent 4 days/3 nights here while we were away. They had a great time together and Tyler was very well behaved! What does this mean? ... More snowboarding trips! Yay!
Will and I took a flight up to SF Thursday night (delayed!) and got in pretty late to Kareen/Andy's place. We woke up super early on Friday and hit the road at 5am. The weather was great - fresh new snow! We went to Northstar in North Lake Tahoe - I love this resort - very geared towards snowboarders!
It was SO cold! We were really excited since we haven't been boarding up in Tahoe in so long! The last time we were there I was pregnant and hung out in the lodge while everyone else boarded.
It was so cold on the lifts! Good thing we had a ton of layers on. The snow was GREAT!
The funniest part of the trip was when we tried to get to one of the side mountains. The only way there was up this lift that pulled you up. Totally geared towards skiiers - you put this little round thing between your legs and it pulls skiiers up super easily. VERY difficult for snowboarders.

Here's me about to try. The name of the guy working there was Tyler! He said he has a lot of fun watching people ... not make it.
Snowboarders have to actually hold onto the handle instead of sitting on it. It wouldn't have been so hard (I think) if the path wasn't so bumpy.
I never got farther than 5 feet. sigh.
At least the snow was softish and it didn't hurt when I fell. I tried this FOUR times unsuccessfully before I gave up. It probably would have sucked if it wasn't so hilarious! I didn't feel so bad though - I watched a bunch of snowboarders not make it up either. :)

Overall, it was a great weekend! We stayed at a little motel on the shore of North Lake Tahoe, had a yummy prime rib dinner Friday night and even hit up a little tiny casino as well! The second day we went to Alpine - which had good snow too - but a LOT of flat spots = lots of trekking for boarders. I had a pretty good fall too that left my butt really hurting but it was totally worth it! I can't wait to go again - hopefully soon since we're having so much snow!
