Tyler's toddler class celebrate Valentine's Day on Friday - all the kids were wearing pink/red and they each came home with a goodie bag filled with treats and Valentine's cards from their friends. It's really cute how the kids will surround us when we come in- here's a shot of me counting with the kids!
It's always fun watching the kids have snack time.
After we got home, we went through Tyler's stash of treats. Unsurprisingly, the majority of them were healthy snacks, and I only got to eat 1 piece of chocolate! hehee.
We got to see many many friends this weekend! Our friend Melissa was visiting from San Diego so she stopped by to play with Tyler. Tyler warmed up really quick to her and sat in her lap and read books!
My friend Trina came back from Taiwan (yay!) and we got to hang out and catch up, since she had been gone for SO long (well it felt like that anyway!).
Saturday started bright and early with a free trial class at The Little Gym in Tustin. I've been wanting to take Tyler to one of these classes so he can tumble around. He started out pretty shy with all the kids but came around pretty quickly.
Here's a video of Tyler once he stopped being so shy and decided to try out some of their equipment. Here's Tyler and Will on the balance beam!
Here's a video of Tyler and Will going across the balance beam. Here's a video of Tyler climbing on one of the gym equipment that resembled a small obstacle course. We totally didn't think he could do it because these foam circular things actually moved a little so it was harder to get a footing. We were really impressed to see Tyler hold onto the rails instead and climb over!
And the pull-up bars! Tyler loved this one!
Saturday afternoon we went to the Valentine's Day Ball thrown by Baby Loves Disco at the Shark Club in Costa Mesa. Yes - a club! It was a pretty awesome event - they actually turn a club into a child-friendly environment where the kids can dance and eat and get their faces painted, etc etc. Tyler got his first club wristband.
I can't even remember the last time I've been to a club! There were lots of parents even ordering lots of alcoholic beverages and stuff. Tyler started out pretty shy and a little overwhelmed since it was so full (these events are nationwide and almost always sell out!)
But once his BFF Vincent came, it was time to get down! They squealed and laughed and danced together and had a great time! Here's a video of the boys dancing next to the dance floor. They loved waving their little pinwheels!
Here's myself and Julie with our boys. The have so much fun together!
Here's a video of the boys dancing on the dance floor. It was a total club! They even got to dance on the stage for a bit as well!

The club had lots of sitting areas that were full of toys and stuffed animals. They had vendors there (of course) giving out free samples as well. This was a changing station they had in the main room - very convenient!
Tyler had a great time and we didn't leave until it ended! Afterwards we headed over to South Coast Plaza and met up with our friends who are visiting from Taiwan- Jeff and Joan. Tyler loves hanging out with their son Jake since Jake is older! I love this picture - Jake is like, THIS way Tyler! and Tyler is happily following.
We all had dinner at Lawry's Carvery (next time we'll know that last minute reservations are hard to come by on Valentine's Day!). It was amazing because Tyler ate a whole plate of broccoli. This is the kid who does NOT eat anything green! I think it was a total fluke, but I bought some broccoli yesterday and hopefully I can recreate the taste!
Later that night my friend Mariam and her husband came over for some late night hanging out! Mariam and I are good friends but our husbands had never met! We found out they were the same year at Berkeley together - small world!
Sunday we actually headed out to West LA. Amazing huh! It really is so rare for us to make the trip but it was totally worth it. First of all, you all know how crazy I am about YogurtLand, right? Well, some of our friends OPENED one in West LA! AHHHH! Too bad it is so darn far for us. They have a flavor that may very well be my new favorite - Lychee tart! Here's me with Tyler and Jeff (one of the owners). Tyler even got a really cute little YogurtLand T-shirt! So if any of you guys are ever in LA, stop by! They are on the second story in a little shopping center on Sawtelle.
Dinner was at a Korean Tofu house (ack!) but thank goodness they had a wide variety of choices. It was fun actually eating dinner out with families with other little kids - they can understand how tough it is with kids behaving at a certain age!

We hung out at Jeff/Joan's place afterwards and it was so cute watching the boys play! Jake is really good at giving hugs but Tyler is still kind of clueless about receiving them. haha!
And lastly, I saw Coraline 3D with my girlfriends this week. It was definitely a very fun experience. The theater was packed and we were sitting smack in between little kids. The little boy next to me kept saying things like 'Awesome!' and 'a button!' during the movie - it was so funny to listen to. Here we are with our 3D glasses - it was really cool!
