Tyler had a great time at his birthday party - even though he missed his usual morning nap! I was surprised he didn't have a major meltdown because of it, but he was having too good of a time.
There are seriously a ton of photos from the party, and I couldn't figure out a good way to put them on here, so I just chose some, and posted the photos with our friends/family. So if you came, chances are you'll be on here somewhere! But we'll start out with the important stuff - the food! :) Here's Will grilling - we had delicious shrimp/meat kabobs, Korean Kalbi and chicken. I can't seem to find any pictures of the mass amount of food we had inside - but thanks for everyone for helping polish it off!
Tyler was ready to party! He really enjoyed the balloons we put up - my mistake though - they were supposed to be Cal colors, but I was informed that (gasp!) they were more UCLA colors instead. My bad. How could I have made such a horrible mistake! hehe, just kidding.
Photo overload time! This picture is Will/Tyler/myself with both sets of our parents. See the pokemon cupcake and cake?
Since the (sort of) theme was Pikachu, I decided to be all Betty-Crocker and make some Pokeball cupcakes. How hard could it be! Well, one thing's for sure - I'm totally not a baker, and frosting is tough to make look nice! I think they turned out ok though!
Tyler had a giant pokeball for his smash cake. He preferred to cut it with a knife for a bit before he dug in with his hand. Mental note - next time don't use a cake that has so much food coloring!
Here's a bunch of photos with our friends. Thanks for coming you guys! Here's Channing and Lara:
Here's us with Vivian, and our neighbors Roger and Serah.
Here's us with Tony, and Will's coworker Tim and his wife Jean.
Tyler's baby friends! Here we are with Sandia and her little one Ethan (1 month younger) and us with Julie and her son Vincent (4 months older). I met them each when we were all still pregnant. :)
My girls! Here we are with Heidi and her boyfriend Geoff, and Tiff and her boyfriend Brian. These girls were both my bridesmaids, I miss hanging out with them!
Tyler was not too into sharing his toys. I figured that since he is in daycare part of the week, he'd be more used to sharing by now. Not so! The photos below go from top left, and then clockwise. (1) Tyler was playing with his toy with Ethan watching; (2) Ethan wanted to check out the ball popper; (3) Tyler edges in and claims control of his toy; (4) My toy!, thinks Tyler. Hopefully he'll get better at sharing, he has so many toys!
It's my Mother-in-Law's birthday next week - so we got her this framed collage photo of Tyler with them. She seemed to really like it - yay!
My dad and Andy's dad were crazy into foosball. Come to think of it, I think everyone was really into it - that's good since its just been sitting there collecting dust since the baby shower last year!
Lastly, some group pictures! Here we are with Kareen, both sets of Tyler's grandparents, a great-aunt, and a great-grandmother from each side! We also had family that was visiting from Taiwan, but I think they were in the other room and didn't make it in the photo.
Here's a photo with our friends! Here's a photo from last year's baby shower - unfortunately some of them we've only seen once or none since then! Thanks everyone for coming!
Tyler and his favorite aunt/uncle Kareen and Andy! They drove down from SF just for his birthday - thanks you guys!
This is a photo of Kareen/myself, my grandma, and my twin cousins (they're from Taiwan, I think you can tell). Maybe twins run in the family? I'd love to have twins next! :)
Our friend Alisa dropped by afterwards (she was one of Kareen's bridesmaids) and brought some Sprinkles cupcakes! Yum! It has been WAY too long since I've had some of these! We opened presents after most people had left and Tyler was more calm. Here I'm opening one of the presents from Kareen/Andy - Tyler was so excited and was pulling at the handle before I even got it out of the package!
