Hey everyone! Whew, the festivities of Tyler's first birthday party are done and things are finally getting back to normal. Tyler probably had no idea what all the commotion was about anyway, but he's getting used to his normal routine again. Party time is over...But the gifts are still coming! Yay! We had a few more gifts come and Tyler was really excited about them! Here is he checking out the nice wrapping job from our friends Ruby and Howard. Thanks you guys! They're due in about a month with their first baby - a baby girl! We're so excited for them! Tyler got a cute teddy bear and an igloo toy from Will's coworker Jason and his wife. Yay, more things for him to bang together. :) Thanks Jason! Aw, notice the big bump on his head? That's what happens when Tyler tries to run at the moment... Our friend Yao came by and brought Tyler these great little soft toy cars - perfect for Tyler since he loves cars and I don't have to worry about him poking his eye out! Tyler carries them everywhere he goes! He also brought this super adorable Apple onesie that I cannot wait to put on Tyler - it is SO cute! Thanks Yao! I thought this picture was so funny because Tyler has such a potbelly here. Seriously, what are we feeding him!And last but not least, Tyler's new favorite toy from our friends Michelle/Lance/Channing. Will and I never had one of these Little Tikes cars when we were growing up, so we had no idea what all the hoopla was about. I had no idea how much Tyler would love it. It was crazy, I watched him learn to open the door, get in, and close the door behind him. He's like a natural! He loves sitting in it with his hands on the wheel, and waving to people as we push him around (he hasn't gotten it yet that he can move himself). He loves it! The last photo looks like he's checking the engine ... when in reality he accidentally slid off the seat. :) Speaking of driving. I think that's Tyler's new favorite thing. We were at Toys'R'Us over the weekend and I couldn't resist putting him in this little Barbie-ish pink convertible I could push around. I didn't think he'd put up with it for long, but he sat in it literally the whole time we were there - hands on the wheel, looking around at people as I pushed him by! He liked the driving machine at the exit though (no quarters were put in though, we're cheap!) I don't think he even noticed. Maybe he's a born driver - his expression in this picture is like - Watch where you're going, Lady!We have a bird's nest on the side of our house! I think that's like a good omen or something in the Chinese culture. I had noticed that a bird lived there since every time I went to open the garage door from the side it would fly out and startle me - but only last weekend did we notice that there were 2 little baby birds in there sitting a little out on the ledge! We were looking at them from below and we heard the momma bird come back, she was flying all over, chirping really loud - I could imagine her saying "I told you guys to stay in the nest!! Now look!!". This past weekend I got Lasik. Whew, was I nervous the day of! I was nervous even as I was lying down and they were taping my eyes open. I don't think it was until after they had started on my left eye that I started feeling the 2 valium I had taken - cuz the next moment I was thinking how Christmas-y the lights that I was seeing were...but it's SO great not having to wear contacts anymore! YAY! Here I am during the procedure - good thing they gave me a blanket to clench! Random pictures from the week: I figured out how to get Tyler to eat a banana. He'll eat it in babyfood form, but hasn't shown any interest in picking up pieces himself. I have to pretend that I'm eating it and trying to hide it from him - then all of a sudden, he's SUPER interested and MUST have some. sneaky I am huh. :) Will took Tyler to the park on Sunday so I could rest my eyes (plus I've gotten a nasty cold, so I'm just pretty miserable right now). The world is a totally different place now that Tyler can walk- he's climbing stuff and moving so quick! On the downside though, gone are the days where he'll happily sit in a high chair at a restaurant and eat - now he wants to be running around looking at everything in the restaurant. sigh. Maybe I don't need my cleaning lady anymore. Tyler has taken a new interest in my broom (which by the way is my FAVORITE broom ever!) It's called the Onda broom, and even though it's pricey (for a broom), I actually enjoy sweeping with it - and that's what counts, right! Now that Tyler can walk, he is much more in control of what he wants. For instance, he'll walk over to Will, get a piece of chicken, and then go play with something else. 10 seconds later, he's back for another, and another and another. Sometimes he barely even turns around before he decides that he wants another one. One of the moms at our daycare feeds her son salmon - sounds healthy right? And lastly, our little future golfer Tiger, oops I meant Tyler. Check out the video below!
Ok that's it for today! Hope you guys all had a great weekend and have a great week! As you can see, no bear picture! We've decided to cut it back to every 2 weeks, or every month... something like that. It was taking over our lives! :)
Cough, cough, sneeze, nose blow. See how dedicated I am to you guys? Still posting when I'm horribly sick? - I think that alone deserves a comment. :) jk!
