Hi everyone! This past week was a fun week - got to see family, friends, AND visit the Orange County Fair! Whew, lots of fun! I am finally starting to get over my cold, like today, - but still have this darn lingering cough (which has recently started severely affected Will too! boo!). I can't remember the last time I was sick for this long - my immune system must not be what it used to be. Tyler has been really into his golf clubs lately - hitting the little golf ball everyday! He's still loving the cars too though - here we are Toys'R'Us - I found a more boy-ish car this time to push him around in! Maybe it's just riding anything Tyler likes. He had a fun time just sitting and hopping on this stuffed Tiger at my parents' place! This past week we met up for lunch with a few of my friends/coworkers who were nice enough to drive all the way down here to see Tyler! Here's Channing on the top and Lance/Michelle on the bottom. It was really cute - Tyler hadn't met Michelle/Lance before, but when he saw Michelle, he reached over to be held by her! :)My grandmother (on my mom's side) went back to Taiwan Friday night, so we stopped by to see her and the family before. I am bummed that she's leaving, but it was inevitable! She's been around since almost the very beginning when Tyler was born, and was a great help to us in the beginning when she would stay over once in a while, help out with Tyler and cook us lots of delicious Chinese food! Tyler really likes her too, he always smiles and wants to be held by her. Here's Tyler on the top with my mom, and with my grandma on the bottom. My parents have lots and lots of fruit trees in their backyard (guavas, mangos, persimmons, loquats, kumquats, pomegranate, plums, etc etc). But something new this time I hadn't noticed before, were grapes! Tyler liked checking them out too! The BBQ was delicious at my parents' place, and my brother's New York steak was ridiculously good, as were the ribs he made. Just thinking about how tender and juicy it was, YUM! Tyler was his usual fun self even with people he had never met! While we were there, Tyler got to bang around on the piano as well. Not sure if he's got talent, but who knows. :) I did learn 2 chords on the guitar though!
The next day we went to the OC Fair. I was so excited that I had a $5 off coupon for the tickets, but I realized that morning that it was Tue-Fri only! doh! Oh well, we still went anyway. It was fun! Tyler got to see lots of different farm animals, and I got to enjoy a giant Turkey leg and funnel cake. :) Here's Tyler walking around the fair.Everything is so different now that Tyler can walk steadily - more interesting, more fun, less tiring from having to carry him... now the only problem is keeping him close to us or getting him to walk the same direction we're going. I'm going to have to get one of those little kid leashes!Check out the giant pig and her little piglets! Can you tell which one is obviously the runt of the litter? We watched the piglets nursing for a while, Tyler was pretty calm just sitting there watching! My favorite was the llama because... because it's a llama! Tyler showed interest in the little chickies too - one of the volunteers took one out for Tyler to get a close look at!Tyler's favorite thing at the fair was this water-mist area. He LOVED it and would squeal and laugh as he played in it. It was pretty hot that day, and Tyler actually kept his hat on his head! Good thing that we lathered him and ourselves with sunblock because it sure was sunny! Here's a quick video of Tyler loving the mist. Remember, if you click on these videos again, most of them can be watched in higher quality directly from the YouTube site.
Yummm... funnel cake. This funnel cake was $9.50 since it had ice cream and strawberries. Geez! Ridiculous! Good thing we passed on the fried oreo...Because we're lame, and didn't realize that we hadn't taken a family shot until we were at our car after leaving. That night we had more family over - my cousin Jerome is visting from NY with his fiancee so the family came over for dinner. We went over to my aunt's house to pick up my grandmother and Tyler got to meet my aunt's dog Daggie! At first, Tyler was totally calm and really curious and would let Daggie lick his toes! But then I put Tyler down to walk - Daggie ran over and startled Tyler and he fell down and cried. After that, Tyler was very scared. :( He cried every time Daggie ran by. :( sniff sniff. My cousin/his fiance and my brother/Michelle were headed to Channel Island the next day - which sounded really exciting since I had never even heard of the place - but Will reminded me how exhausting it would be for Tyler and us. Aww. Look! a bear picture! :) Who loves the onesie! Back when the NBA Finals were on and Will/I were watching all the games, Tyler never seemed interested unless the Kevin Garnett/Celtics/Gatorade commercial came on. Whenever it came on, he would stop whatever he was doing, and STARE at the TV. Now I have it bookmarked on my iPhone so that whenever he's really grumpy, we have a backup plan! Here's a video of it's effect on Tyler! Uhoh...hopefully we don't have a future Celtics fan!...
Here's another one of Tyler and his golf clubs. He loves hitting those balls around - this video was particularly funny because he picked up a common golf trait - throwing down the clubs in frustration! :)
And lastly, Tyler is better at communicating 'No' now! Before he would just scream (not that he doesn't still do that sometimes!) but now he'll actually shake his head back and forth like he means no! We got a cute video of him not wanting to get out of a little moving play machine. Although, yesterday I did offer him a piece of nectarine and he shook his head no, but then reached out to grab it. Maybe he's just confused..
