42 weeks - playdate at the park!

Hi everyone! First off, wanted to say CONGRATS to Joan on their new baby boy Brandon! We can't wait to meet him!

Man, it has been ridiculously hot here in Orange County lately - last year this time I was a couple months from my due date and I don't remember it being this hot! One year ago today was the day that Will/I closed escrow on our home! I still remember all the papers we had to sign, getting that fat check from the bank, and getting our notary to drop his fee from $250 to $50. How exciting things were at that time - we were so eager to meet Tyler but also so busy with moving and getting everything prepared. I can't wait until we decide to start thinking about having #2 - although it most likely won't be until the end of this year or early-mid next year - we want to shower Tyler with all the attention for a while longer!

We'll start things off slow with a picture of Tyler knocked out in his stroller. There was this great deal on Amazon.com recently for Peg Perego strollers (50% off) and I was almost convinced to get one, but we decided that my kate spade one was just lovely, and we'd wait off until we needed a double stroller in the future. (By the way, Tyler only gets his pacifier when we want him to nap on his walks and on car rides.)This past weekend we met up with some other families at the William R. Mason Regional Park here in Irvine. MAN was it hot. I actually got a sunburn on my back. good thing Tyler had his hat on and lots of sunblock. He really loved being outside though.
Here's Tyler in the middle of our little group- he is so silly- he decided that the one place he wanted to sit was the spot where there weren't any blankets. He likes the feel of the grass I guess (one of his daycare teachers told me this also!).
Here he is with some of his new friends - Ellie and AJ. He sure loved everyone else's toys!
See how much Tyler loves grass? - this picture, upon closer inspection, we saw that we captured him actually eating some grass! At least that was better than the dried flowers we had to pull out of his mouth...
I know, picture overload of park pictures - sorry! We got a new camera (although these are mixtures of my point-and-shoot and our new one) and it was just so hard choosing a few.

Here's a shot of our new toy (and give you guys a break from all the park photos). I really don't know much about DSLRs, but Will has been looking into them for some time ever since we borrowed my brother's DSLR and was blown away! I am horrible at focusing though, and am always relying on auto focus. I'm really excited though - the picture quality is just so much better!
Here's Tyler on a little toy bike. He was pretty eager to try out all the new things there.

Playing seriously with a new toy...
Going down the slide with Will - he loved it!
Ok no more park pictures. More restaurants for Tyler! Here he is at PF Changs (left) and Islands (right). Yes - we went to PF Changs - but only because I've never been there and we got a gift card in the mail for a free entree. It wasn't bad, but boy it sure was overpriced Chinese food! Tyler seemed to really enjoy the statues there, and kept smiling at them. Doesn't that burger from Island's look so yummy!?The other day we thought it would be fun to put Tyler back in his swing, just to see if he would fit anymore. This was the swing that was a total lifesaver when he was a baby - I would put him in there in the mornings to nap so I could get some more needed sleep. Boy, was Tyler upset in it this time! I hope we didn't break it...the whole thing was wobbly...
Teeth brushing! Very high on our priorities now. The last thing I want is Tyler to have a ton of cavities and need to get root canals and baby teeth pulled (yes! it happens!). Especially with those sweet canned fruit he's been having (no more of that!), I'm super paranoid. I feel like I end up brushing more his lips (ouch) and tongue than his teeth though, oh well - we just need more practice.
Last week I took Tyler to the Discovery Science Center. I have a friend who does PR for them and they were doing some photos of their KidStation for an article for Parents Magazine. Who knows if we'll make it in but it was fun anyway. This was Tyler playing with one of the toys there - last time we were there he was just barely crawling and we were on TV in the morning!
They had this little foam tunnel thing to crawl through, and Tyler loved it!
Tyler's totally interested in books now. He loves to flip through them, and feel the ones that have raised surfaces. He even likes to eat them. His favorite book right now is the 'Belly Button Book' - and when I say 'BEE BO' (the way baby Hippos say belly button) he totally cracks up.
Yay! Tyler had a new visitor this week! My friend Lara from work! Tyler was SUPER ridiculously friendly with her - laughing, smiling, and yes, even KISSING her! Lara was great with him also!
Happy Tyler in his old Jumperoo toy. We were about to put that away too (along with the swing but he seems to still enjoy it.

Here's a video for this week - just Tyler whizzing around on his round-about. I really need to take some more interesting videos!

And lastly, 42 week bear picture!

Have a good week everyone!!

The park pics are pretty entertaining. Tyler's expressions are so funny...in that second grouped set, he looks so much stronger than the other babies... "let me take over that toy", then he's like, "hmmm, maybe not."

The grass-eating pic is also hilarious. A chubby baby actually looking like he's enjoying grass!

That's okay Tyler. We'll call it, ummmm...salad training. :)

tyler looks like he's growing up!! he loves grass! jake liked grass as a baby and then went through a phase where he didn't like it when he started walking.
