hey everyone! this past week has been a tough one - Tyler got his first high fever! You can imagine how freaked out I got, and it totally sucked that there was nothing I could do about it. He started out Friday sounding a bit hoarse and by Friday night he had a full on fever - almost 102 degrees! He was pretty miserable most of the weekend, and so very cranky. At one point he seemed to be acting pretty erratic and was yelling 'bahh bahh bahh' and flailing his arms at the darkness. Kind of creepy too actually. After a couple frantic phone calls to my older sister (thanks!) I stopped freaking out and just tried to make Tyler as comfortable as possible. Poor little guy even threw up while I was holding him Saturday night - twice! We were both so happy when his fever broke about 2am Sunday morning, but his sleep patterns have been completely thrown off. He's been waking up at that time, pooping, and then deciding not to go back to sleep! Needless to say, Will and I are exhausted. He's feeling better today but he's still not his cheerful self, so I'm thinking about keeping an eye on him tomorrow. What an ordeal for first time parents! Here's Tyler, feeling better finally! So last week my girl Juliet was in town for work. For those of you that don't know, Juliet is like my mirror half in Seattle. I don't mean that we look alike, but we are super similar! Main similarities? Both of us are electrical engineers (rare since we're girls), been with our bf/husband a really long time, and LOVE video games! There are more things we have in common too but I can't remember them right now - but we have those conversations where its like.. what? ME TOO!!! Anyway, I thought it was super cool to find another girl that loved video games as much as I did (now THAT's rare!), and was just as fun and sociable as me! We've even visited each other's town in the virtual 'Animal Crossing' world on our DS's. ..maybe not something I should reveal, huh... haha! Anyway, after our customary pitcher of berry burst cider, I had to introduce Juliet to (of course..) Yogurt Land!! The line was OUT the door but we still waited, because its totally worth it - plus it was Channing's first time too! :)Here's Channing, Juliet's friend, Juliet, and John getting yogurt! All first timers (except John)!Yummm...yogurt land... I had failed to mention before that this was FROZEN yogurt, so Juliet was actually expecting real yoplait style yogurt. But this was much yummier, right?! By the way, Juliet is holding a business card for a coffee place in Little Saigon where the waitresses serve coffee in skimpy lingerie. I KID YOU NOT.Tyler was still feeling pretty good on Friday afternoon when we decided to have an early dinner at our favorite (or 2nd favorite?) prime rib restaurant - Five Crowns. The hostesses and the wait staff were totally going out of their way to tell us how cute and well behaved Tyler was! Yay Tyler! We even caught one of the busboys playing peekaboo with Tyler from behind a wall. Tyler was GREAT and just hung out while we ate our yummmmmy prime ribs. mmmm. We had decided to go because we had gift certificates that had just expired but we had called ahead and they said we could use them (we get them from the Lawry's VIP program). Tyler's been to Five Crowns at least 4 times! what a fancy baby. :)Here's Tyler eating his biter biscuits happily. One day he's going to want some of our prime rib! ... He can have some of Will's! haha, jk - I'll share! So Saturday morning we headed out to a Farmer's Market near UCI. What? Wasn't Tyler sick? Thanks to a faulty thermometer reading, we thought he was doing better - and he didn't feel as hot as he did the night before. Plus it was a really nice and sunny day, and a little sun is good, right? Anyway, Tyler seemed to enjoy being out and about (don't let the picture below fool you) and was his usual curious self. The Farmer's Market was fun and even though Will thought it would be kind of a waste of time, he wasn't complaining at the end because he got to have TONs of samples of one of his favorite things - strawberries!Afterwards, we headed to a meeting of OC Babywearers, where my friend (who is one of the leaders of the group) showed me how to wear Tyler on my back in my Beco carrier. I was pretty worried he was going to fall out, but he was really snug. He seemed to like this position since he could see everything, and I loved it because my hands are free! freedom! We've tried getting Tyler interested in holding his own bottle again. We bust out the little holders every once in a while, and then forget about them. Tyler has no clue what to do with them. We'll need to work on this a little more...We've started giving Tyler peas this last week. He wasn't too much of a fan at first, but I think he's coming around. Here's a video of our peas adventure!
It's been so hot recently that Tyler has gotten to hang out in just his onesies! This is seriously unheard of, since he's always in pants, shirts and socks! He really enjoyed sitting on the cool counter top eating his biscuits and cheerios. He's still so flexible! Notice in the last picture his dimple is on his right cheek. HUH? It used to be on his left cheek....strange...Here's Tyler from when he wasn't feeling well. It was so hard to get him to calm down and relax - but he seemed to be really into watching Ni Hao, Kai Lan and stopped fussing when we turned it on. I thought this was a cute picture because of Tyler's side profile - such round cheeks! Ni Hao Tyler!Ooh! big news this past week. Tyler got A tooth in! I say 'A' because I was pretty surprised that only one came in - I thought the top two would come in together (his bottom 2 came in together right at 6 months). Now Tyler just seems kind of lopsided, heehee. Its a weird angle of him, but you can see his little white tooth on the top, on the right side (his left).Oooh. As mentioned earlier, Will LOVES strawberries, and has a weakness for fruit custard tarts. We went to Costco and they were selling these tarts (4 in a package) and we couldn't resist. Yum - looks like Tyler wants some too! We've started giving him so yobaby yogurt but he hasn't shown much interest in it yet. Strange. They are giving him some crazy foods at the Irvine CDC though - chicken nuggets, french toast and grilled cheese sandwiches. ... grilled cheese??Another video - Tyler is finally tall enough for his walker! Actually, I think he has been tall enough for a while, but I just didn't realize it. When he's sitting down, his feet don't totally touch the floor, but when he can totally stand up in it and put both feet flat on the ground! Anyway, he's still only going backwards mostly, but at least he's trying to move forward! This video has him on his toes trying to move forward. :) I just ordered a bunch of new toys on line, whoohoo! - so excited!
Here's Tyler's 37 week bear picture. Check out those thighs! My MIL mentioned that she thought Tyler looked less chubby - I beg to differ! Although, since he is much more active now, its inevitable. Still, he's my little sweet potato! :)Have a good week everyone!
wow! what an eventful week. i'm glad tyler is over his fever- that can definitely be stressful and throwing up is NEVER fun. i'm glad you guys are getting strawberries and fruit tarts and prime rib. mmmmm.
tyler doesn't look less chubby! :) but wow, they let him eat grilled cheese and chicken nuggets! no wonder he is not interested in peas and yo baby!
I can't believe you wrote about us visiting each other's Animal Crossing towns. We sound like social rejects now haha..! Lets see, what else do we have in common... Snowboarding, Birthday's in September, both our significant others are about the same age (months difference i think), both our significant others are allergic or something to alcohol (which I think is sooo strange). Hmm.. what else.. similar tastes in sushi (salmon and tuna), similar dislikes in certain foods... more will come to me later..
Oh yes.. and for all you guys who are currious about the business card...so for all the times I've come to visit the OC during my business trips I've never once heard about this place... and Kathy!!! you LIVE here and you didn't even know. haha! Some guys (John!) were talking about it and I didn't believe them, so it struck my curiosity and we went for a bit to check it out. I know you are all wondering where it is... so here you go.
Cafe Di Vang 2 (I guess there are more than one) 14221 Euclid St. Suite A Garden Grove, CA 92843 714.636.5107
Those coffee shops are like Starbucks--they're everywhere in Garden Grove. LoL. Anyway, glad to hear that Tyler's feeling better. And your description of him making noises and throwing his arms around in the dark was a little creepy... Hehe...
