15 weeks!
Hey everyone - happy 15 weeks to Tyler!
Quick update - there's been CRAZY fires going on in Southern California since yesterday. They're popping up all over - from Malibu to San Diego. We have a big one here in Irvine as well up Jeffrey towards the hills and the 241. Last night, looking out our backyard, the sky was black with smoke; and this morning I could smell a faint burning smell downstairs. Yikes. On the news last night they were saying for those who live in the Woodbury and Northwood (where we are) areas of Irvine to take shelter and not go out and stuff. Yikes! The worst part is that the news is saying that it was definitely arson - how horrible is that! Will came home a little bit earlier from work today and we're just going to stay inside and keep an eye on the news. Here's a picture from our backyard last night:
We found a nanny! After more nanny interviews last week (which I am SO tired of), one of them totally stood out and made me wonder if she's too good to be true! Her name is Brooke, and she just finished nursing school in New Jersey, specializing in Labor and Delivery. She works part time at a day care and also TEACHES CPR. And after meeting her, she was really sweet and I felt totally comfortable with her. I'm really excited!
Here's Brooke!
Last week my mom came by and we hit up Ikea, 99 Ranch and (of course) Yogurt Land. I've been on a little nesting binge lately and we finally changed our living room curtains/curtain rods and hung up some new pictures and mirrors. It feels SO much better not seeing gold curtains! The next day my grandmother came and made us lots of yummy food again, while I conducted a whole day of nanny interviews. BOY am I glad we're done with those! Here's my mom and Tyler! Too bad my parents are in Japan for a couple of weeks - can't wait to have my mom back! :)
this weekend has been pretty busy too! Saturday we bbq'ed - its been so long since we've done that! Our neighbors (Roger and Serah) came over and we had delicious korean bbq. Will's parents also came over as well. It's so crazy, we actually know Roger from college - how many people can say that about their neighbor - so totally random. They are a really cute couple and I'm really excited since we had a great time with them! Definitely looking forward to more bbq's and stuff. Here's us with our neighbors (don't mind the picture taking.....)
Sunday morning my mom and some of her friends were performing a Kung Fu fan dance at this senior center in Irvine so Will and I brought Tyler to watch. They were pretty good - they did their routine to the theme song from the 'Once Upon a Time in China' Jet Li movies (I especially like that song since I used to be such a huge Jet Li fan!). It was cute, the seniors there were all over Tyler - one lady kept calling him a 'live doll' and this old guy kept waving his fingers at him. Here's my mom and her fan with Tyler and myself:
we met up with some new parent friends at Tanaka Farms Pumpkin Patch here in Irvine. BOY was it windy - CRAZY windy. We ended up not buying a pumpkin but it was fun seeing all of them. We also went through a corn maze and picked some vegetables (carrots, green beans, onions and radishes!). I had a good time hanging out with other mommies! Afterwards we had dimsum at China Garden and (of course) Yogurt Land! Yum!Lots of pumpkins...
Family pumpkin patch picture! Tyler was completely knocked out, but that didn't stop us from taking the picture!
Will and Tyler in the corn maze - it should be called corn stalks circles instead - there was no corn and just circles to walk in!
I picked these carrots from the ground! They were really cute. :)
Tyler and Sarah - I forget how old she is but she was so cute and had her ears pierced!
Tyler and Morgan (and daddies Will and Matt) - Morgan is only a week+ older than Tyler!
The group at Yogurt Land (see how long the line is? - out the door!)
Today Tyler has been quite fussy - I'm having a hard time with his daytime napping. What happened to those days when he would nap 2 hours at a time! He totally doesn't anymore! Sigh. Hopefully the nanny will be able to help me get him on some sort of schedule...Here's Tyler's 15 weeks picture:
I finally remembered to get a picture of Tyler putting his hands together - he's such a gentleman! He usually does this when we're nursing but lately he just seems to sit around with his hands together - I think its so cute!
I bought this jacket the other day for Tyler - its for 6/9 months so he's got a lot of time (hopefully) to wear it. I had a coupon for 20% off and this jacket seemed so cool - its one of those 3 in 1 jackets that you can wear each piece separately or together. It's still way to big though..
I also finally got around to finishing the wooden letters for Tyler's nursery. I was originally going to buy ones that were already decorated, but dang they were so expensive! I figured we could do it ourselves for much cheaper and it would be special because I did it! I'm not very creative, but I still think they came out cute.
Tyler has also been grabbing at his rings everywhere now - I think he knows he's doing it? He'll grab it and then just hold on to it tightly!
Lastly, here are a couple pictures I took of Tyler this morning when he was in a good mood. :)
See you next week!

yay! congrats on finding a nanny - make sure you check out all her references though!
love the pixs of tyler smiling at the camera - too cute, as usual!
scary about the local fires, keep me udpated.
Looks more like a boxer than a ring gymnast to me.
Wow, I haven't seen the sky that blue in DAYS!!! I hope you guys take care out there. We're a little farther away, but we still smell the smoke and see the ashes. =(
Haha oops sorry for forgetting to comment! Awww you guys went to the the pumpkin patch! I totally didn't know you could get vegetables there...hm..I'll have to drag Roger and his 3 yo nephew one of these days hehehe. Tyler is sosososososo adorable!!! Aww...I wish I pinched his cheeks when we were over =)
You know what's funny? Roger is totally addicted to yogurtland now but he's in denial! I gave him my yogurt cup after three spoonfuls, and he ate ALL of it. When he gave me back the cup, there was nothing but a little bit of watery yogurt left! Grr... I'm so gonna have to make him get his own cup next time.
Btw, there's another great dim sum place across the shopping center from china garden. I don't remember if I told you, but it's called SW BBQ and it's near Ranch 99. Wait...I'm pretty sure I told you haha. Anyhow, we should totallyyy get together again! Maybe to yogurtland next! ;)
