11 weeks!

Wow can you believe its almost the end of September! Tyler is 11 weeks today!
So our 9 year anniversary dinner didn't go down the way we had planned. In fact, it didn't happen at all! Due to some miscommunication (no one told me so I had no clue), Will and I (and Tyler of course) ended up taking my grandmother back to Hacienda Heights Tuesday night... in traffic. Oh, and I also sat on a bunch of ants while I was there. ACK! Oh well - I think its a sign that our lives aren't really about us anymore. :) Although as a present, Tyler slept from 10:40pm to 5:45am that night. Thank you Tyler!

Tyler has been smiling and cooing a lot more. He loves it when Will curls his tongue at him and tries to copy daddy. Here's a video!

Wednesday night we had dinner with Jeff/Joan/Jake/Yao at CPK at the Tustin Marketplace. Doh I didn't bring my camera! Happy Birthday Jake! (Jake turned 2 on Saturday!) Tyler was good and slept right up until our food came. heh. Will and I ended up taking turns walking him around. It was a tiring dinner but we were rewarded with Yogurt Land afterwards! Yum!

Here's Tyler sleeping away at CPK!
Thursday I decided to be brave and take Tyler out and about by myself! My original plan was to just go to the Irvine Spectrum since I had stuff I needed to return at Target, Nordstrom's and H&M (all at the Spectrum) but stupid me I went the wrong direction on the 5 Freeway and ended up at the Marketplace. We returned the items at Target, and bought some new toys and pants for Tyler. He was so good sleeping the whole time that I decided to be brave and continue on to the Spectrum...except somehow I ended up going the wrong direction on the freeway again. I don't know what was wrong with me that day. Anyway, we made it to the Spectrum and back without any problems - he slept almost the whole time! Maybe this will help me be more brave in the future. That night when Will got home, I went out and got a MUCH needed mani/pedi; and had a nice chat with the lady doing my nails who had a 5 month old daughter at home. Ahhhh it was GREAT to be out and not worrying about Tyler - even if it was only for an hour.

Speaking of new toys: Here's Tyler checking out his new mobile - boy there sure is a lot of stuff going on there! It's been great so far - it keeps him occupied for about 15-20 minutes at a time - so I can jump in the shower or whatever. And it gets him flat on his back which he usually hates. Also (not sure if you can see in the picture), I got him this Night-time soothing rain forest thing - it hasn't put him to sleep yet but it can occupy him for a while as well. I'm over the 'it doesn't match his nursery' issue. That reminds me - I need to get letters for his room to spell out his name on the wall - ahhh so many things to do.
Here's a shot of this toy I bought that attaches to the car seat. My biggest problem with taking Tyler out is him crying in the back seat and there being nothing I can do for him! I bought this toy hoping it'll keep him occupied and not crying. We'll see if it works or not.
Here's a video of Tyler and a play gym that I returned. It was kind of cool watching him hit the rattle with his hand - whether or not it was intentional I don't know...he didn't seem too interested in it so that's why I returned it and got another one - I'll post pictures of that one next week!

Tyler has been rejecting drinking from bottles lately. It's really unexplainable. He had no problem when he was younger (younger than 11 weeks!?) and we had kind of slacked off on giving him a bottle every now and then. Our pediatrician had warned us that we should give him a bottle a day (of breastmilk of course) and we didn't think we needed to worry. Boy were we wrong! I'm hoping its just a phase but it's really stressing me out since he screams as soon as he realizes that it's a bottle. Does that mean I can't leave him for more than 3 hours? sigh. The worse part is we end up just giving in and not forcing the bottle.

Friday Will was working from home (yay!) and Tyler had another visitor - my friend/coworker John! Thanks for the diapers and yummmmmy egg custard tarts! We all went out to lunch at A&J (Tyler started getting fussy near the end) and then (of course) dessert at Yogurt Land. I don't know what it is about their yogurt - I think I'm addicted (better than other addictions!).

Here's John and Tyler! Tyler doesn't look very happy, but to be fair - he was JUST waking up and stretching/yawning.
Saturday morning we headed to San Gabriel to Will's parents' new house. It's so crazy - it was just a piece of land before and now they have this house all built! Tyler was in a great mood and smiled and coo'ed for them and Will's grandmother and aunt. Yay Tyler! It was funny though, when they first got there and were ooh-ing and ahh-ing over Tyler - he had this really like nervous look on his face because they were so loud and right in his face. hahah. He slept through the entire lunch too. I just realized that every time we've gone out to eat with Will's family, Tyler has always slept through the meal completely; yet when we go out with our friends - he fusses a lot. Really strange.

People tell us constantly that Tyler looks like Will's dad - I don't really see it, but then again I don't really think he looks like any of us yet. Here's a picture of 3 generations of Changs!
Sunday Tyler napped BEAUTIFULLY - and Will and I had a really relaxed day. Now that I think about it, we probably should have taken advantage of all of Tyler's naps that day and weeded our backyard - it has become completely OVERGROWN!!! I should seriously take a picture so you'll know I'm not exaggerating. The last time we weeded was the day before Tyler was born (I could argue that the gardening induced my labor...) and now the weeds are almost as tall as the lemon tree and are choking out all our pretty flowers. sigh.

Today was a hot day. Only a little bit ago did Will inform me that he had turned off the air conditioning. Duh me. Anyway, this morning I met up with these other two moms at this park in Irvine. It was great chatting with them - one has a 2 month old (a few weeks younger than Tyler) and the other had a 3 week old!! It's amazing how we can be total strangers but have stuff in common just because we all have young babies! I really do hope to meet more moms in the area - I wonder if I should look into some mommy and me classes or something.

Misc pictures of the week:

Tyler being shy and pulling his bib over his face.
First time Tyler has ever been in RED! Ok I know that seems silly but everything he has is seriously white or some shade of blue. I finally got around to washing this one (I wash all new stuff before he wears it) since I needed a load I didn't need to worry about the color bleeding. He's doing his flexing muscle pose... except substitute muscles for chubbiness.
Here's Tyler holding onto a rattle! I thought it was so cute!
Here's a video of Tyler moving his rattle! I doubt he even knows that he's making that sound though. :)

Yawning Tyler.
Worried Tyler.
Here's his 11 week teddy bear picture:
Until next time!
