6 weeks = big boy Tyler

so Tyler is now 6 weeks. SIX weeks! I know I was supposed to update yesterday but Tyler had his 6 week checkup this morning and I wanted to wait to get his stats before posting. Not TOO much of a surprise though. I've been noticing that Tyler is definitely getting bigger and heavier. He'll be eating and I'll look down and be like - dang - he has such a big little head now!So here are his stats:
at birth:
  • weight: 7 pounds 1 oz
  • height: 20 inches
now:
  • weight: 11 pounds 15 oz
  • height: 22 3/4 inches
This puts him in the 90th percentile for his weight and 80th percentile for his height! There was a head circumfrence measurement also but I can't remember it right now. 90th! wow. So of course here comes my concerns of 'am I overfeeding him?' - but our doctor assured me that this was normal (isn't 50th percentile average!?) and that you can't overfeed a breastfed baby. alrightee then! after they weighed and measured him - they gave him his first round of vaccinations! The nurse was so quick with the 4 shots (2 on each thigh) that Tyler barely had finished holding his first cry and she was done. He's been pretty good today so far but I hear they can get fussy later on. yikes!

Here's Will and our chubby half naked Tyler! :)
I've been very lucky this past week - my mom and grandmother came over last Monday and hung out with me during the day. It was so great! It worked out great since my brother has to make the commute from Hacienda Heights to Irvine every day anyway so they just hitched a ride with them. I never knew how wonderful it is to have someone help out with a newborn - Will and I have been flying solo this whole time. I remember before Tyler was born, people would ask if my mom or family was going to stay over and help out and I was like huh?? Now I know why people ask - it is SO helpful - just to have someone at home with me during the day to hold Tyler or whatever. My grandmother came back on Wednesday and stayed with us until yesterday. She seriously has some sort of calming baby magic. Hopefully she'll be able to come back for some more time before she leaves to go back to Taiwan in September!

Here's Tyler with my parents!
Here's Tyler with my two grandmothers! Here's Tyler with Will's parents!
Here's Tyler practicing his tummy time and looking at my grandma!
Here's his weekly picture ( I didn't post one for week 5 but we did take it! I should add it to last week's post huh...ahh laziness...)So, Tyler's baby acne is starting to clear up. key word: starting! Because of this, I've started fooling around with some different settings on my camera (anything to hide his redness! hehe) and found some cool features that I had totally forgotten about! This is the 'color accent' feature where you choose one color only. Here's a new video - finally huh! This was a few days ago when he was starting to wake up. He is so silly whenever hes waking from a nap - he makes SUCH a big deal each time! This video doesn't do it justice - he'll start to scrunch up his face as he stretches, let out a few high pitched cries to warn us that he's thinking about maybe waking up soon. I still giggle sometimes when he starts crying because I think he's so cute all scrunched up - I think he resembles a little mole sometimes. heehee.

We're thinking of starting to read to Tyler before bedtime each night - not sure which books to read him yet though, something with not a lot of words and lots of pictures I guess. His pediatrician asked today if he was sleeping through the night yet. !! I was like, uh, does 4 hours count? Nope! Sleeping through the night!? This can happen!? Sigh. Until next week!

aww.. the tummy time pic is so cute. glad you had some calming magic relatives! it's definitely nice to have another set of arms.

good good night books in jake's library: good night moon, i love you through and through (jake's fav), brown bear brown bear, mommy hugs, daddy hugs. he can't really see the pics, but it'll be good to see the different responses as baby gets older!

Whoah...11 lbs! That was fast. He seems pretty satisfied in the pics! Looks like he'll be giving dad a meat-eating challenge in the future.
