4th of July my parents came down and we had yummy ribs. Will loves his grill! I wanted to see fireworks but was totally not in the mood to have to go somewhere where there was a ton of people. We've actually always had pretty fun 4th of July's down here. For 2005, Will and I had gone up to the Bay Area for the weekend and drove down in time to party with our friends in Huntington Beach - we all ended up at the Huntington Beach Pier watching the fireworks on the sand. It was VERY OC. heh. Last year we spent the 4th at a friend's party in Newport Beach where we were all on the roof and got a good view of the fireworks too! Looking back at last year's pictures, I see lots of Irish Car bombs! yum! ahh so fun, seems like such a long time ago! So this year, I figured we'd do something more low key - maybe watch fireworks on TV or whatever. I've been having braxton hicks (fake) contractions, so I definitely wanted to do something slow and relaxed (sit on the couch perhaps? heh). When it started getting dark out, Will and I went for a walk around the block (we try to make a habit of it) and saw that there were a lot of people out at the community park down the street next to the tennis courts and swimming pool! It was really cute - so many families with TONS of kids - bbq'ing and playing around. The house across the street from the park even had these huge speakers out blasting patriotic-ish music and it felt so... so.. like .. a home community! Turns out this park was a GREAT vantage point for the fireworks show that were going off that night at a local high school that the city was putting on (so not crappy fireworks - but like a big show!). Will and I grabbed a seat on the grass - and enjoyed the show. :) So it wasn't all party-ish like previous years, but it felt really nice just sitting on the grass, in our little community, watching the fireworks. :)

happy 4th!
happy 4th of july! ok so I'm a few days late, but oh well! what's been going on... ahh - just a waiting game. Every day brings us another day closer to everything changing! I've been super tired all the time - AND super sore. Its quite depressing when going to bed at night is not something I look forward to - I always wake up so sore (not to mention the bathroom trips every 2-3 hours!) Will and I have been seeing a lot of movies - which we totally normally don't do. We saw Knocked Up a few weeks ago, and then Ratatouille and Transformers last week. I guess we're trying to do non-baby-friendly stuff! We even went to the beach - Corona del Mar - it was really nice but hot!
Lots of doctor appointments -every week and on top of that we're on the search for a pediatrician. I think we found one we like but we're checking another one out this week - a little farther though - to compare. My doctor thinks that the baby will come probably close to his due date of the 19th - although I think maybe next week Will and I may try to do some 'encouraging' of the baby to appear a bit earlier (my doctor is on vacation the week after my due date). Although, I may be on my way hopefully - lost my mucus plug this morning (ok I know that sounds gross - but I was VERY excited!) so at least that's a sign that things are getting in gear in there! But don't think I'll mind if I really go the full 40+ weeks, since that means more maternity leave time for me! :) Today has been semi-busy - Will's parents came by and installed a new shower door for us on the spare bathroom! whoohoo! the original one was pretty gaudy - the type of door that is like frosted and there were like clouds and a swan print on it... blech! Loving the new one. :) They wanted to get it installed before the baby comes since its a noisy task. It's amazing how handy Will's dad is - he can literally fix / build anything AND he's a great cook! We have future plans to change out all the countertops to granite (no rush I know) and its really reassuring to know that he knows exactly how to do it!
